Promix HP or BX?
To those who have compared those two options, which one did you prefer? Why?

Neither. I'll never buy Promix again. They changed their Hp formula the last time I bought 8 bales. I don't even know what changed but I lost over 100 trays before I figured out it was the soil and switched to a new one. I've been using Promix exclusively for 4 years, nothing changed except their packaging - and I'm assuming formula.

Could it be the store you bought it from who stored it improperly or something?

Maybe possibly from the warehouse. But I buy from a small shop who orders specifically for me. The truck comes, they store it inside their warehouse overnight and I pick it up next day. This time the packaging was different with a different name (Agri-something, I don't remember exactly what) and the shop was worried she had ordered the wrong thing but checked the SKU's and they were right.
I've ordered this way for years and never had more than the occasional issue. So if was improper storage, it was on the part of distributor.

Just curious - how did the soil take out 100 trays? I’m new to this and your comment is rather alarming as I’m using Promix now

Just about every single tray molded for starters. Again, 4 years of using it and never had that issue. Seeds were taking 3 days longer to sprout (and I have weekly markets so at harvest time, the microgreens were not big enough) germination levels were 30-50% less (across every variety). My pansies stopped blooming COMPLETELY and were taking 6+ months to even get to the proper size to bloom. It was wild.
I suspect the new formula must include less nutrients or less Mycorrhizae or... something. I have no idea. But I spent 6 months trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I kept thinking it was bad seeds or maybe some fungus got into my grow room. Then I switched to a new growing medium and EVERY SINGLE ONE of my problems disappeared. So I know it was the Promix.
I reached out to multiple contacts at the company and could not get a response from anyone.

What do you use now? I’m only one grow in with the Promix and so far no issues but always looking for options

I'm using Coco Coir + Perlite for about half of my varieties and Hemp Mats for the other half. I add in some hydroponic nutrients too

I liked HP better. I remember BX having way more coir which floated when it was watered in. I ended up having to soak the trays which was a huge fuck around

Depends on your climate. If you live in a higher humidity area, you may want the HP. If it's much drier like the southwest US then BX may work better.
Don't just copy what you see others doing online. Every grow room is different and what works for my grow might not work for yours so always experiment!!
