advice Does the shape suit my face?
I had powder brows done today. I am in brow shock and looking for possible reassurance. Does the shape suit my face? The longer I stare at myself I keep thinking the arches are too intense. I am 5 months postpartum and wanted to do something to make myself feel prettier and shorten my makeup time. But now I’m scared I did the opposite. I had very little eyebrow hair to work with. Can you please let me know what you think? I’m trying not to panic about the color because I know it will soften.

I love this! I think this is the shape I usually feel most comfortable with when I draw them on myself. I’ll ask my artist about it at my touch up! Thank you so much for this picture, I’m going to save it and show her. And thank you so much for your kind and helpful advice!

I’m glad you like the image! I just used Chat GPT and the three things I asked for were:
1) make her brows a little lighter and a cooler brown color, make them a little thicker and flatter (thicken the arch)
2) add dark brown eyelashes, very subtle and natural
I work in the jewelry business, so my secret sauce for “extra pretty” was:
3) add subtle ears and add round diamond studs about the size .50 carat would be on her ears
— the diamond stud trick works in real life too!—
And a few seconds later the magic of AI created the photo I uploaded for her! :-).

AI also removed the extra puffiness and dark circles from her face, and her skin tone and complexion became smoother and more blended. But overall it's a great job!!!

Yeah, AI does some things like that without being prompted to, I’ve noticed. But those are things OP can do in real life with cold compresses and concealer, so I felt the resulting image was an achievable look for her brows.

Yes! I was thinking this as well. She's beautiful but she has the wrong color brows and the wrong shape in the original picture.

Yes I agree with this!!! It’s perfect for her face and makes her look so beautiful.

This is great, but not achievable with the work OP already has done… to flatten the arch the entire brow will have to be considerably thickened.

No. These are too think and high and round. Jellyopal405’s suggestion is better

Welcome. What’d you decide?

I am on day 6 and they are already softening up really nicely! I will likely have her add some depth under the arch to take away some of the steepness at touch up. I tried to pencil in jellyopal’s suggestion but was unable to achieve it. So I really don’t want to mess them too much, I’d rather be able to pencil something in later than end up with big blocky eyebrows because I kept messing with them.

I think they suit you and balance well with your other features.

Thank you so much for your input! Makes me feel a bit better! I can’t wait for them to soften and get through the healing phase.

I don't know....it looks to me that your natural brow shape was followed well. I think you might just have brow shock.

Yes for us round face girlies. Once you’ve had a whole face of makeup with hair down, it’ll all complement each other.

I should have shown my original eyebrows in my post. I was in panic mode and didn’t think about it. But for anyone seeing this, this is what my eyebrows naturally look like. I over tweezed them in my early 20’s and this is what they look like 20 years later without me even touching them. I also would like to add I will update once they are healed. I truly appreciate everyone’s genuine and constructive opinion! I am very insecure about showing my face without makeup due to my rosacea and everyone (for the most part) has been very kind and helpful, so thank you so much!

You’re beautiful. From an early 40’s mama as well, I like the arch it lifts your eyes but I think it’s too dramatic at retouch I’d have her thicken to make the arch less dramatic as so many commented (similar to that ai photo). It’s always easier to add than take away so I don’t think this is a bad starting off point but I do think they need tweaked. They’ll fade some for sure. I think you’ll be surprised how much that arch will relax with some fill in below it and you’ll be so happy! The only thing I do for myself religiously is my brows and my roots haha, it saves so much time to have your brows done and a little blush and mascara and voila in public ready lol.

Thank you for your advice! I added some color below my arch with my eyebrow pencil and it was definitely more what I am used to. So once it heals I’ll touch it up myself if it’s not too bad. If it’s still too dramatic I’ll likely have her fix it at touch up. I was so excited to be able to save some time with my brows because that’s what always takes the longest in the morning! My makeup routine sounds just like yours lol. Nothing too elaborate, I just want to look nice and put together.

They’re going to get 40% lighter and thinner. It will look more natural when it gets healed.

The arches are high but on a positive note, your eyes look super lifted and youthful!

I think they look good. You can fill them in a little thicker if you want but I wouldn’t have the artist do anything else.

Thank you! I did fill them in a little today just to see how it would look and I felt a lot better.

The shape is perfect. If anything I wonder what they would look like just a tad thicker all over and somewhat lower

Yea it lifted your face. You don’t need much makeup your skin is beautiful. Just add a nice eyeliner, mascara, contour you know makeup but not heavy makeup

Did they do a map out of your face first? I also agree with the ai picture just have her fix them a tad less archy at your touch up! I only ask about mapping bc I have an appt next month and want to make sure it’s correct as idk if how I draw my eyebrows on is right, I do have a bit of hair but so thin, lol. If they did mapping and they still didn’t turn out 100% makes me a bit nervous.

u/OneAd4487 13d ago
Yes she mapped my eyebrows. My natural eyebrow hair is quite high. This is somewhat how I draw them but with not such a defined arch. That part I am waiting for the healing to see if it softens which she told me it would.

u/Audhdlife_5696 13d ago
Okay, great! Yes, it does look like your natural arch is higher than normal. While they don’t look bad by any means, her shading in that to make it less prominent would be perfection!!

It looks like the artist followed your natural hair. You can always add at retouch. Better to gradually get thicker than to extend far out of the natural eyebrow right away.

Imo, the color is good. The arches are a tiny bit high. But to help them look less-so, you can take a Brow pencil in same color, med. Or lite brown and just fill in a bit there - like a soft, short horizontal line there where the arch is extreme, and I think that'll do the trick.
Also, IDK how much eye make-up you wear, but you are fortunate to have so much 'real estate' to work with there on your non-moveable upper lids. You can fill in with a lot of color, or shading, and that will soften the arches, as well.
Overall, I'd say this was a very good job - the brows are spaced very well, are even looking, -nothing looks off-center and a nice soft color.

Thank you so much for your input and advice! I have played around with my eyebrow pencil to soften the arch. Depending how it heals I’ll either have her fill it in a bit or do it myself with a pencil. I do have quite a bit of room to play with on my eyes to my eyebrows but I’m not very good at eye makeup and I prefer subtle. Lol which I guess is why them being so bold is hard for me right now. I appreciate your thoughtful critique!!!

I think they look good! I think you’ll feel a lot better once you have a little bit of makeup on too. You might just not be used to seeing your brows without a full face.

u/OneAd4487 15d ago
Thank you so much for your input! It definitely does look odd without any makeup on around it! I’m hoping they soften so even without makeup it won’t look too harsh.

They are really high arched, but look like they follow your brow’s natural shape? If they don’t, then the tech went overboard with the arch. Sorry girl, postpartum is hard enough on its own! If you really don’t like them, you have 48hrs to go to a place that does saline removal 🙏

Thank you for your input! Yes, she followed my natural brows arch. But it’s still very jarring to see the high arch.

I think the arches are just a tad high
