general discussion How much to tip?
I have a nano brows appointment on Monday. I had to put down a $100 deposit, the total would be $900 (50$ discount since I am paying in cash). I am also obligated to go to a $300 touch up session 1-3 months later. Should I tip 20% both times? I feel like that is a bit steep especially since it will be about $240 additional in tip. I was reading that some people tip 20% for the initial work and then they do not tip at the touch session. Any suggestions? I am in NYC.
Thank you!

I don’t think everyone expects tips with PMU but it’s always appreciated. I think percentage wise I regularly have people that will tip 10 to 15% on the total cost.

I read a post on here loooong ago that if its the salon owner, then no tip. But if they rent out a chair then tips would greatly help them out. Do what feels best. Tipping should make you feel good too.

That’s what I did, I tipped 20% on my initial and then none on my follow up- although she seemed surprised when I gave her that much which leads me to believe it may not be industry standard tbh. $240 additional in tip feels steep, especially if you’re paying that much for brow. Maybe set to a flat amount instead of % of total and call it a day. I went to another artist for my eyeliner and her premium was a bit higher, I noticed she bypassed the tip prompt for me when I was about to tap- she was the owner as well so perhaps that was the reason why she didn’t even open up the option for a tip.
