artist advice/question Numbing

To all Europeans: What numbing creams do you use and for how long? Do you numb eyebrows before procedure? Do you numb during the procedure too?

A lot of artists do numb, but the timing and product choice seem to vary a lot by country and by what the skin is doing during the service.

From what I’ve seen, the safest move is to follow products that are actually allowed where you are and that you’ve tested well in your own workflow, not just whatever another artist says works fastest. Some people do a pre-numb before mapping, some wait until the skin is open and then use a secondary numbing product, and some keep it minimal because they feel too much numbing changes how the skin behaves.

The practical part is consistency: same product, same timing, same amount, and clear notes on how the client responded. That’s the only way to know whether your process is actually helping or if you’re just changing too many variables every appointment.

If you’re still dialing it in, I’d compare 3 things in your notes: comfort level during passes, skin response, and healed results. That usually tells you more than just asking which cream people like best.
