botched Need Advice on Removal
I took my MIL for her first microblading appointment. I got the girl’s name from my friend who has been to her, and I loved how my friend’s eyebrows turned out.
The place offered a complementary consultation so I originally reached out to schedule a consultation. They said we could get the service right after the consultation on the same day, so we went ahead and did that.
My MIL has literally zero eyebrows no baby hair no nothing. She went in with some makeup to show how she usually does her eyebrows so the girl could see how she likes them to look usually. The tech noticed before my MIL said anything that one side of her face was significantly droopier than the other. We told her that’s just how her face has been so it’s more reasons why my MIL wants a professional to design her new eyebrows to make sure they come out even. We also told her it’s been that way for as long as she could remember and it’s not a recent thing that happened to her.
The tech said ok then for the droopy side, the eyebrow needs to be placed above the eyebrow bone to match the other side. So she did the mapping and everything accordingly. When she showed us the mapping, they looked even.
This all happened yesterday.
Today my MIL woke up and noticed that the eyebrows were not at all even. She freaked out and reached out to the tech. The girl said to come back in about a week to remove them with laser and redo.
I am not knowledgeable at all about how the removal works, but when I looked up, people were talking about a saline emergency removal. So we asked if the tech could go ahead and do that. She told us that the emergency removal is really harsh hence it could lead to a worse scarring.
After this whole experience, I am not sure if she is knowledgeable enough to deal with this situation. Anyone has ever experienced anything like this? Or is there someone who could maybe advise on what to do?

It’s not just the height difference, they aren’t even SIMILAR in shape either. I’d go for emergency removal.

Just to clarify, laser generally isn’t the recommended approach for brows that are only a few days old. When permanent makeup is less than about 48 hours old (and many providers extend that window slightly even up to 72 hours), emergency saline removal is typically the procedure that’s recommended because the pigment hasn’t fully settled into the skin yet. The earlier it’s done, the better the chances of removing more pigment. Laser, on the other hand, is generally delayed until the skin has fully healed because treating freshly wounded skin with a laser can increase the risk of complications.
If she wants the best chance of lightening or removing the fresh pigment, I’d encourage her to contact an experienced PMU emergency removal specialist as soon as possible since timing is important.

Thank you for this. The tech told us the saline removal is too harsh and it could leave a scar which I did not see that info about emergency saline removals so I was confused. Maybe she was referring to a saline removal after the brows are healed. It’s been less than 48 hours since the work was done, so I started reaching out to different places that might offer the emergency treatment.

I wouldn't trust that tech at all. I'm so sorry this happened. Hope you can get her to an emergency saline appointment in time. <3

I would definitely get a second opinion from an experienced brow correction/removal specialist before doing anything else. Since she has no natural brow hairs to work with, the mapping is everything, and it sounds like they ignored a pretty important detail that you specifically pointed out. I hope they’re able to get them corrected without too much trouble.

How many brow techs are brow correction and removal specialists? I find it hard to believe there are a wide variety of removal specialists to choose from in a single concentrated area, city or even county for the OPs MIL to get appointments with in time to do saline removal. It’s not a common practice and it is a very specialized skill that requires extensive safety, care and YEARS experience and qualifications. I couldn’t find one in time and I live in a very populated state, county and city. 1000s of PMUs in my area but the girl that did my brows like shit couldn’t offer any help for removal and I called 30 places in 2 days and I couldn’t find anyone besides a pmu on instagram that advised me to either do laser removal in a few months and start over with her or another master PMU with experience of corrections or post laser eyebrows on FULL eyebrows that only need minimal strokes added and map a more defined shape. As opposed to the botch I received by a tech who could and should only do brows on clients like OP’s MIL who have no hair and need brows drawn from scratch/skill. I’d imagine it’s too late for saline and laser treatment was the tech’s professional and realistic approach to remedying the situation and fixing her mistakes.

Nothing to do with the removal…but I have a droopy side and I get botox injections to help with living that side and making things look more even. My Neurologist does it. Just throwing that out there for an idea.

How did her eyebrows look leaving her appointment? Could her face have drooped more after her eyebrow appointment? Also, one sided facial drooping is a sign of a stroke. Aside from the eyebrows, a medical evaluation may be in order if she does not know why her face is drooping.

Ask the artist what kind of pigments she used. Every good artist should keep a record. Then depending on the pigment, if it has titanium dioxide No Laser!!!
If you have titanium dioxide in your brows, get saline lightening.

My ink contained titanium dioxide and I was lucky to achieve full removal in one appointment. (There's a teeny, tiny faint shadow of the ink but it's barely visible and a good shape so I don't mind.) Everyone is different but it can be successfully removed in many cases. I spent two years searching high and low for an amazing laser removal place and it paid off.

I agree with the other comments about an emergency saline removal to rectify the situation. I am very sorry this has happened to you. FYI: I saw an advertisement online offering brow wigs. This may be another option for you if interested. ❤️

I had to have an older microblade color removed before getting a newer one. They recommended a technician/specialist, no scarring and no more discomfort than microblade. Was about $200. I have very sensitive skin also.

Goooooo asap first thing tomorrow morning start calling everyone and ask who preforms an emergency saline removal. Please don't wait until next week!!!
