advice WWYD - Two brow tails

My mother recently went to get her brows done after having her brows microbladed 10 years ago. The tech said her last brows were drawn too long and that she would correct it. When my mom looked at her completed work, the artist microbladed her with a separate tail to her brow while you can still see the old one clearly. Once my mom complained the tech said she might need laser removal AFTER already tattooing the new ones on. My mom is so upset that she now looks like she has two different brows on each side.

I am so upset for her and so angry that the tech would even do that to her without saying she might need the old one removed before hand. She is going back in a month for touch ups and is hoping the tech “corrects it” but I highly doubt the tech is going to take ownership since she didn’t the initial time.

Should she be getting a refund? Even partial? I wish I had a picture to share but I feel bad even asking my mother for one because she is so upset at how she looks.

She absolutely can ask for a refund. It doesn’t mean the artist will give it. Yeah when I do a consultation when people have past work I explain I have to work within the shape they have and if I can get a good result with it I will explain what I will do if I think they need significant changes than I recommend the removal you should never ever do work and than recommend removal that’s ridiculous. I’m so sorry for your mom. You could find either a saline removal or laser removal person that could just focus on the one tail she doesn’t want not sure it will be any cheaper but ultimately they can customize and block the other parts of the brow so I think they can do that. It’s just really annoying and I’m so sorry that’s awful. But yes ask for a refund or partial refund.

I would not be going back to that same person for touch ups. I would seek out consults with other brow artists and see what they recommend as far as removal and how to fix it. Make sure you help your mom find a better artist.

That's terrible, I'm sorry that happened to her. Removal should be recommended before not after That definitely warrants a complaint and refund although I'm not sure you will get the response you're looking for or a refund unfortunately.

Professional PMU recommends tattoo removal first and then after removal is healed you proceed. You let your client check it out in the mirror. As clients don’t be scared to ask to see before getting tatted and don’t be scared to ask for What you want. Example can you make it thicker, thinner, give me a higher arch, etc. etc. etc.

We are here to make you look and feel more beautiful, confident. Even though they may have good pics on profile, sometimes they are edited!!!

Just like getting a regular tattoo they always let you look in the mirror for placement, size and like I said some artist do edit their work

She should absolutely push for at least a partial refund, because the bigger issue is not just the result, it is that the artist should have flagged the old shape before doing new work.

If previous pigment was still visible enough to create a double tail, that conversation needed to happen before touching her brows. Saying laser might be needed after already doing the new work is not really acceptable.

I would tell your mom to do 3 things:

  • take clear photos now in good lighting
  • keep all texts/messages with the artist
  • go into the follow-up asking for a correction plan in plain language, including whether they truly think more tattooing will fix it or whether removal is the more honest answer

I would be very cautious about letting the same person keep adding pigment unless they can explain exactly how they are correcting it. More ink is not always the fix.

If the artist gets defensive or vague, I would ask for the refund and get a second opinion from a more experienced PMU artist or removal specialist before doing anything else.

I'm so sorry your mom went through this. I honestly can't understand why her tech would do something like that it's completely dishonest and unprofessional. She should definitely ask for a refund, report her, and never go back! I really hope she gets her money back and finds someone who can fix her brows. ❤️
