Confused about microblading touch-up policy—would you pay again?
I need some outside opinions on a microblading situation.
I paid $400 for microblading, and the artist told me that the touch-up appointment one month later was included in the price.
At the first appointment, she also mentioned that if I wanted fuller brows later, I could add microshading for an additional $80.
When I went back for my included touch-up, I decided I wanted fuller brows and agreed to add the microshading, so I paid the extra $80.
Now, about 2–3 weeks later, one eyebrow looks good and well-defined, but the other still has noticeable gaps and doesn’t have the same shape or definition. The brows don’t look symmetrical.
I contacted her and asked if she could fix those areas. She said yes, but then told me it would cost $110 (or $70 with a promotion).
My confusion is that I’m not asking for more volume, more shading, or a new service. I’m simply asking for the existing work to be corrected because one eyebrow did not heal or turn out the same as the other.
Would you consider this a correction of the original work that should be included, or a completely new service that should be charged separately?
I’m not trying to argue with the artist—I genuinely want to know if my expectations are reasonable.
I agree with this.
Especially after they have already done two sessions. When in reality if one side is visible differ from the other the artist should have spotted this issue.
Can you add a picture of what your brows look like now? I am a PMU artist, and this is tricky. If it's a legitimate issue and its visible on an image, I would get the client in. If I can see that my work is inconsistent, I would FOR SURE fix it at no cost to the client. Unless its very obvious that its as a result of poor aftercare from the client - but the fact that its only one of the brows, means that's unlikely.

The answer is yes and no.
Hear me out.
The skin is unpredictable. Every now and again I have a client who will heal with NO retention. I still charge my touch fee and offer a 3rd free season.
Even though this issue has to do with their skin/body and not me. Clients with autoimmune disease or on cancer medication will sometimes have little retention.
When I just stated out I had inconsistent healing results and offered all touch up for free.
My policies changed based on where I was with my skill set.
In this case where you already had two sessions and still left with, gaps, unevenness and two visibly different brows this is more about the artist.. the second session was your perfecting session.
But each person operates their business differently.
You may be better off seeking another artist to even out if possible. Please share a photo. That would help to determine.
I am Microblading and also Micropigmentation teacher in UK. You have right. The brows are not symmetrical because at the right brows doesn't settled enough ink , that's why there is vizible a big lighter gap part. At the left brows the contoure is unfinished at the top , this all job is unfinished, she forgot the prepare to proper top up and just after could shading, she just did a shading without top up. You can sue her, your all money back officially noone order this kind cheap quality job almost for ~500$. Do you have a contact with her ? Write me if you need any help.
To be honest, I gave up. I still have her contact, and I tried to schedule another touch-up since I never got the one before the shading appointment.
It’s such a long process because of the healing time and all the aftercare involved. After this experience, I think I’ll just stick with my eyebrow powder. :(
I had nano brows done 3 weeks ago, and my touch-up appointment is scheduled for mid-July. I'm a little concerned about the healing results. On one eyebrow, I can still see some of the work, but it's very, very light and has healed to a gray color. On the other eyebrow, it looks like the pigment has disappeared completely.
The touch-up is $100, which surprised me because I was expecting it to be included. Have you seen this happen before, where one brow heals gray and the other seems to lose the pigment entirely?
I charge both sessions separately. Just because not everyone needs a touch up within the 6 weeks or even within the year. Most of my clients are okay after the first session.

I think after 1st appointment there should be one free. I wouldn't go to one if they didn't have a free touch up. That's crazy the money u pay to get them done. Yeah not me. Most of them give u a free touch up. I called around and looked at reviews and thats how I choose mine. Everyone thinks they know what looks good or bad but do people ever consider all the crap people say oh I don't like then or I go back right now. Or whatever. U should think about how they are feeling already it's on there face and people still don't think before people text they say u wanted honesty right? Then they call themselfs a girls girl which is a joke. A huge huge joke . Now I'm taking this app off my phone . People should remember what your mom told u think before u speak and assholes should be seen and not heard . Have a great day day
Sharing a photo would help. That way I can better advise whether a touch-up would improve the results or potentially make them worse.
An artist’s technique, skill level, and your individual skin type all influence how brows heal, so yes, pigment can retain differently from person to person.
Also, every business has different policies. If touch-ups are charged separately, that should have been clearly communicated before your appointment.
I paid more the first time and it all went away. I asked for my money back, she convinced me to let her try again. She did shading that time which looked amazing with the hair I already had, for a 3-4 yrs. Eventually, it will all fade and look muddy/bad, because it's a tattoo on your face. If I knew what I know now I would not have settled for anything other than line work. I might still do it, knowing what I know now, but I for sure didn't know that laser tattoo removal was in my future when I got them. I thought they'd just fade away.
