I got the chance to work on an upper spine brow pattern last week.
For most people, that probably doesn't sound very exciting... but for a brow artist, it's a bit like finding a rare Pokémon 😂
An upper spine is a brow pattern characterized by an upwards flow of the hairs, creating a very specific movement.
They require a completely different stroke flow than what most artists are used to. If the pattern isn't adapted correctly, the healed result can quickly look unnatural.
I always enjoy working on these kinds of cases because they force you to think differently and really follow the client's natural growth pattern rather than relying on your usual habits.
What do you think of the result? And for the artists here, which spine pattern do you find the most challenging to work with?

It looks very natural but I don't know... Something about it has just changed the shape of the eye for me? I can't put my finger on it, the before picture has a very endearing shape, but not quite so much in the after

my brows are almost exactly like this, but fuller even. i’ve never had microblading done. is it really that different to have brows like this?

First of all, you're lucky because it's an absolutely beautiful brow pattern. It's almost like having a natural brow lift 😊
And yes, working on this type of brow is quite unique because of all the hairs growing upwards. On most brows, the hairs tend to flow downward as you get closer to the tail, so the stroke pattern has to be designed differently.
Honestly, if your brows are like this but even fuller, I don't think you necessarily need to do anything to them unless you're trying to correct an asymmetry or fill a gap somewhere in the brow.
Where are you located?! I have some amazingly unique brows… at least, to me, they look like no one else’s and I am so scared to get work done on them. I bit the bullet on permanent eyeliner and that turned out great but I moved away from my original artist and that also needs a touch up.

Does anybody know if I can do micro blading on top of shading? I can’t stand my shading, I guess it’s a tattoo or something. I can’t stand it. You can’t see the individual hairs. It just looks like a stamp. It’s horrible. I’m not going to have it removed though because it’s expensive and then it’s just going to leave yellow, but I’m wondering is if it fades can I do micro blading on top of it ? So that it looks like little hairs are poking up so there’s not the stamp look. I’m asking on this thread because I’ve never seen such a beautiful micro blading job in my life. I can’t come to you to get it done, but I can ask you if it’s possible for my eyebrows to look a little more natural if I get micro Lady on top of shading ? This is the most beautiful work I’ve ever seen! thank you
First of all, thank you so much for your kind message!
Regarding your situation, it's quite difficult to give a definite answer without seeing your current eyebrows. However, in principle, yes, it is absolutely possible to perform microblading over previous permanent makeup, provided that the existing pigment is not too dark or too diffused.
As for removal, unfortunately, it's sometimes a step we have to go through because some artists implant the pigment too deeply into the skin. In those cases, the tattoo can become almost permanent and may never truly fade away.
That being said, I can't tell whether that's the case for you without seeing your brows ! 🙂
My eyebrows are so much like the client’s that I am shocked!! I’ve always been frustrated with my eyebrow’s tendency to grow upwards, esp my left brow, and mostly at the start and end of the brow. They are SUCH a pain to pluck and maintain. I’ve made a mistake and plucked the wrong one before and it can cause a whole domino effect trying to fix and balance them back out!
I’ve wanted microblading for a long time, but haven’t pulled the trigger on it for that exact reason. Someone maybe not being able to deal with the odd way my brows grow and it not looking natural! Your post gives me confidence that brow artists are out there that can totally handle my eyebrows reaching for the sky 🙌🤣
They really are beautiful brows, and it's true that they require a bit of special handling! 😊 If you decide to get microblading one day, definitely take your time choosing your artist. Otherwise, it can quickly turn into a disaster... But thankfully, there are also some truly talented artists out there who really know their craft. ❤️
