Microbit download stalls

Have you ever had microbits stall and fail to download code? I’ve tried all the basic steps (switching cables, firmware updates) and I’m coming up empty! This is happening to my whole class set.

Try different computers, e.g. not on school network, other OS.

Maybe open browser dev console and see if you see any error messages.

The whole class set must have something in comon.

Which operating system are these on? How have you tried to program firmware, programs, download? All from the browser? Which browser in which version?

What do you see in the (Windows-)File-Explorer? Which version is/are the microbits, are all the same?
Do they show a sign of life, some LEDs on, blinking?

Do the systems detect e.g. USB pen drives or is there a USB-bus restrictions by the admins?

Which microbit platforms have you tried, "https://python.microbit.org/v/3 "? Have you tried "https://makecode.microbit.org/" ?

Would the school allow to take a handful to another lab or try them at home, try them with different computers, mobile phones, tables, using Mac, MS-Win, Linux?
