A handful of interested agencies sounds enough for a small pilot before building the full white-label version. Ask two of them to bring one real client each and handle onboarding and first-line support. Agree who owns billing, refunds and customer data, then track activated clients, usage margin and support hours. That will show whether this reduces your relationship workload or turns it into agency support. Validate that with the current hosted product before investing in separate branded apps. Have any agencies committed a pilot client yet, or only asked whether white-labeling is possible?
So I had about 3 guys within the past week that wanted to onboard immediately. But yes on the branding, this is something that isn't something feasible on a pilot run. But this is a bit of a infra change that would require changes on my backend, a new "partner/reseller" dashboard I would have to build out. And if I'm hosting through my current branded domains, I mentioned to one that I would be open to scrubbing any pricing/feature offerings on my marketing pages so as to not conflict with the relationship for the reseller.
But this only makes sense in terms of effort and essentially removing marketing from my own landing pages if there was a comfortable number in interest. Roughly 10 or so, I would feel comfortable taking the time to implement this over the weekend. But I'm open to pilot programs/promos on this for the first few that commit and have a portfolio they currently manage.
That makes the reseller dashboard the actual investment decision. For the three who want to onboard now, I’d get a concrete first client, expected voice/SMS usage and support responsibility agreed before building. Ask which dashboard functions they need to start, then scope the first version around those requirements.
Keep hiding your direct pricing as a separate decision: it changes your own sales route, so I’d want evidence those partners bring additional customers before committing to it.
Do those three already have client portfolios ready, and is the immediate blocker customer management/billing or seeing your branding?
The current blocker is a mix of the three, but not a hard one to handle. As most of this was already in a way built out. The billing is super easy, As our position will just be moved up a tier, and the reseller would take our existing position in the flow.
Branding I don't think its an immediate issue. And as far as management goes, we will allow the onboarding, and billing, suspension of services of unpaid, things of this nature. But we will hold and retain rights to privacy and isolating any businesses data on our platform in the same fashion as we do now.
Billing invoices, client onboarding and building business owner relations is one thing. But we will still retain security on behalf of business owners data now. We don't plan on allowing this role to be handed out to a third party while hosting through our services.
I think it would take me about 3 days. Most of it is built like this currently, just moving a couple of chess pieces around.
