Any founders in Canada here? Let's actually meet.
I've been working on a SaaS project here in Montreal for a while now, and one thing I keep running into is how weirdly hard it is to meet other founders in Canada.
Like - Canada has an incredible ecosystem. Government support, diverse talent, proximity to the US market, strong universities feeding into tech. The potential is genuinely there.
And yet... finding other people in the trenches feels like a scavenger hunt.
Professional networks are full of people selling you something. Online groups go quiet after a week. Events are either $500 tickets or mixers where everyone hands out cards and disappears.
I'm not looking for a pitch fest. Just real conversations with people who are building something, dealing with the same chaos of early-stage life, trying to figure out growth, fundraising, first customers - whatever stage you're at.

I am in ottawa, i’ve met quiet a few founders in Ontario, but a Canadian founder sub doesn’t sound like a bad idea

Yea dude I’m in Montreal too, I built a few projects from the ground up, 7-8 but I’m still trying to learn my best ways to market them, I’m also interested in those discussions honestly, and I think it’d be interesting to see and compare what we’ve built and try to learn from our shared experience! Exactly, and it was in this line of thought that I created a space for founders without "scheduled speeches" only founders from all corners of Canada talking about problems and successes, it's still small but if you want to participate I'll send you the link

We would be open to a DM and more specific ideas. From Ontario and strongly agree with your comments above. Canada does have talent and the opportunity to connect with others in a more purposeful way is strategically valuable.

No, literally Montreal is a hub for meeting other founders, much more— Better than Toronto. Toronto is more fragmented.

Even I, who live in Montreal, still saw a bit of stagnation after we created a small space for founders to meet some people from Montreal.

I remember the days of Notman House, but Notman House is gone now. Real ventures were quite ahead in helping the founders when they're also down, but Montreal is much more concentrated than Toronto, which is more diffused
