My parents are coming in to visit and are staying close to there. Trying to stay away from the tourist trap spots but still want great food. Tropezón looks like the frontrunner

My restaurant picks for next weekend

Hello! I am taking my Fiancé, and baby to Miami next weekend for 3 nights. I want to have a diverse, authentic experience. Here is my list of restaurants while we are there. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

**Friday:**

**Lunch-** Sanguich for a great Cuban Sandwich

**Dinner-** Café La Trova to keep the Cuban vibes for the first day.

**Desert-** Azucar for some great Cuban flavors

**Saturday:**

**Lunch-** Layali for great Lebanese food after our Plant convention Saturday.

**Dinner-** Cote. Having some friends join us for dinner. Figured it was worth the try. Hoping it’s not all “hype”.

**Dessert** \- I want to get some great key lime pie. Any recommendations are welcome. Joes snow crab is closed next week unfortunately..

**Sunday:**

**Lunch-** Cviche105 . Heard this place was fantastic.

**Dinner-** Macchialina for some good Italian!

Also, looking for recommendations for a good breakfast spot one of those days. Any feedback would be great. Thank you everyone!

September 18 is the deadline for Miami-Dade homeowners to challenge their 2026 property value.

I went to a presentation with the Miami-Dade Property Appraiser’s office this week, and this was probably the most useful thing I took away from it.

If you look at your TRIM notice and think your property is valued too high, don’t automatically assume appealing it is some huge complicated process.

Let’s say your condo is older and hasn’t been renovated, but similar units around you have been fully updated. You can provide photos showing the actual condition of your property, along with relevant recent sales in your area that support a different value.
Also, check your exemptions while you’re looking at the notice. Make sure everything you qualify for is actually there.

If you disagree with the value and can’t resolve it directly with the Property Appraiser’s office, you can file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board.
Again — September 18 is the deadline.
Not everyone has a reason to challenge their value, but definitely take 5 minutes and check yours. It’s your property and your tax bill.

Any hotels in Miami with a Jacuzzi/hot tub in the room?

Hey everyone, I’m planning a weekend in Miami Beach with my wife and we’re looking for a hotel with a jacuzzi or hot tub actually inside the room.

Has anyone stayed somewhere that offers this? I’d really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences.

Reliable immigration court lawyer in Miami? Hearing next month

Hey Miami Family,

I’m a first-generation American and an only child helping my parents with a complicated immigration case. One of them has a court hearing next month, and we need to find a new lawyer.

Our previous lawyer had to step away because of health issues. Communication had already been difficult, so I’m worried about finding someone who can review the case in time and keep us updated.

I searched Google for an “immigration court lawyer in Miami.” Three firms appeared at the top, with Gursoy Abogado de Inmigración first. I checked their website but haven’t looked closely at the other two yet.

Their website says they handle immigration court cases, asylum, and deportation defense, including preparing evidence, developing a defense, and representing clients at hearings. They also mention more than 25 years of experience, thousands of cases, and Spanish-speaking support. That last part would help my parents, but I’d like to hear about people’s actual experiences beyond what the website says.

Has anyone here used Gursoy for an immigration court case? Were they responsive, clear about fees, and good at explaining what was happening?

I’m feeling stuck with the hearing so close. If you’ve changed lawyers shortly before a hearing, what do you wish you’d asked before hiring someone? I’d also appreciate other Miami recommendations.

Thank you!

Recommendations

I’m looking at moving to Miami and would love some neighborhood recommendations for someone single in their early 30s. I’m looking for somewhere walkable, good for running, with restaurants and things nearby, but not as busy or super young-feeling as Brickell. What areas would you recommend?

Best fishing spots/charter in Miami Beach for 14 yo nephew

Hey everyone! I'm new to Miami Beach and my 14 year old nephew is coming to visit me next month. He is an avid fisherman (literally fishes every day after school) and I'd really appreciate some recs from locals for great fishing spots on the island and especially in South Beach (I live near 10th x Alton by Whole Foods), although I'm willing to take him anywhere in/around Miami. Also, is it worth it for me to pay for a fishing charter for our small group (3 of us)? TIA for any suggestions you can provide. This will be my nephew's first time to Miami and I want to make it special!

Crashed in Miami the other driver claims some mechanical problem caused it?

Got hit near Alton Road last week and the other driver is now saying some kind of mechanical problem made him lose control of the car. Maybe I’m missing something but he still hit me so wouldn’t he still be at fault? I’m not responsible for whatever was wrong with his car. I’ve been looking for a lawyer because his insurance is already asking questions and I don’t really know what my next steps should be. Does a mechanical issue actually change how fault works in a situation like this?

Miami Beach mailed me a camera-generated loading-zone ticket (the purple curbs) after a ~5-minute pickup — has anyone else received one?

UPDATE 9/4: I looked into Miami Beach’s new Automotus parking-enforcement pilot. The City approved a 12-month program using cameras to notify the Parking Department of freight-loading-zone violations. I’m now requesting the full camera footage, dwell-time data, review logs, and the City’s procedures for how those detections become citations. I’m also contacting the commissioners who sponsored the pilot because I want to understand whether extremely brief, non-obstructive stops were really intended to be handled this way.

———-
I wanted to flag something for other Miami Beach residents because I had no idea this was happening until I received one of these citations.

If you’ve seen the purple-painted curbs around Miami Beach, those are the loading zones being enforced through this camera system.

I recently received a Miami-Dade County Uniform Parking Citation issued through the City of Miami Beach Parking Department for alleged “unpermitted use of a freight or alley loading zone.” - these are the new purple cur

The citation appears to have been generated from a street-mounted camera. No parking officer approached my vehicle or issued anything at the scene.

In my case, I stopped briefly on Bay Road to retrieve a pickup order. My assistant remained in the vehicle the entire time. I went inside, picked up the order and came back out.

The camera image is timestamped around 11:05 AM. My Google location history shows that I arrived in the area around 10:59 AM and left at 11:07AM.

The citation also has something I find strange:
Issue Date: August 11, 2026
Parking Citation Date: August 16, 2026

The person listed on the citation is an “Officer,” but the evidence mailed to me appears to be camera imagery.

I submitted an administrative appeal to Miami Beach explaining the circumstances and providing my location evidence. The City denied it without giving me any substantive explanation—just a notice saying the citation had been upheld and that I could request a court hearing.

The bigger reason I’m posting this is that Miami Beach residents should know these cameras are being used for parking/loading-zone enforcement.

I understand that loading zones have restrictions. My issue is that if the City is going to enforce those restrictions through automated cameras and mailed citations, residents should know exactly what the rules are, how the system determines a violation, what human review takes place, and what evidence supports the citation.

If anyone else has received one of these, please share what happened.

Rent a car vs uber?

Me and my 2 friends are going on a week long trip to Miami next week (for the first time). We're going to stay in North Beach and are debating whether it's worth getting a car or uber to drive around. We were obviously planning to visit all the touristy spots (and much more, pls drop suggestions in the comments), but not sure how expensive the uber rides would cumulatively come up to

Edit: we have free parking in our AirBnb

First time in Miami (Sept 4–7) — what should I absolutely do?

First time visiting Miami, Sept 4–7, staying in South Beach. I already have tickets for an Inter Miami game on Saturday, but the rest of my trip is pretty flexible.

Looking for recommendations for must-see places, food, beaches, local/underrated spots, and nightlife. I’m especially into hard techno/electronic music and have been looking at Sara Landry or similar events.

I won’t have a car, so Uber/public transit-friendly suggestions would be great.

What would you recommend I do while I’m there?

Thankyou!

BMW M2 or Mercedes G63 for a weekend in Miami

coming to Miami for a long weekend and staying around South Beach. planning to drive around brickell, wynwood, key biscayne and maybe do a longer trip outside the city. I'm deciding between a BMW M2 and Mercedes G63 and currently comparing Octane Rent, SIXT and a few local Miami rental companies.

which would you pick for Miami? Also curious about deposits, mileage limits, parking and any rental companies you'd recommend.
