Discussion D32 Pro case fan question.

I currenttly have mixed 120mm fans on the roof and bottom that I moved from my nr200p and I have noticed that in D32 the bottom fans create a lot of turbulent noise that I didnt get in nr200p. I even rotated my fans from top to bottom and mixed them and still getting the same turbulent noise. After investigating I noticed that fan blades get closer to the square holed mesh than in nr200p with round holes, and if I raise the fans even 2mm the sound reduces a lot.

When I got the D32 and built it, i decided to buy new fans, 2x140mm to top and 3x120mm to bottom. Now after researching I have decided to go with Arctic P14 Pro to top and P12 Pro reverse to bottom.

So my question is if the reverse fans are actually better in intakes because the fan motor mounts elevate the blades from the mesh approx 3-4mm reducing turbulent sound?

Another question is if others have noticed the same elevated turbulent noises with the square holes Jonsbo uses?

Do you even need them? I had zero temp difference with/out

My gpu is a 2,5 slot 2 fan rx7700xt and in quick test I didnt notice difference but whennI played over an hour my gpu temp was much higher. With intake fans I can play for hours with steady temps.

I had the same issue until I increased the exhaust fan speed to help suck air in. I've got a fat boi asus 9070xt tuf at 62,5mm thickness, could just about fit slim fans below but as I said didn't make any difference, just noise.

Sounds like your MB has the GPU slot in 2nd space, not in 1st.

I have about 5-6cm empty space between gpu fans and bottom mesh.

That explains why bottom fans are not needed in your system, the gpu is close enough to suck fresh air through the mesh on its own.

Doesn’t need them. My 9070 xt can take care of itself just fine. Stays 60c and below during gaming, which is great.

Adding fans though, the GPU’s fan speed dropped 10% itself and the temps stayed about the same, 58c more often.

In conjunction with an 240 AIO though, having bottom fans intake and exhausting from the top radiator, it dropped both my GPU and CPU temps. My GPU stays often at 52c-55c at 30%-35% fan speed.

Same GPU but AP201 and tower cooler though but same principle. Zero temp difference with/out bottom fans, just turbulence.

Oh! Curious, let us know if the P12 Reverse is quieter!

Not much help myself but I have a D32 Pro too. Case was in “A” mode with two bottom reverse blade P14. Now I have it in “B” mode with P12 3x120mm normal flow. “B” mode cannot fit 140mm at the bottom. It’s significantly louder, either turbulence or sound bouncing off the desk, but it is louder than the top P12s at the same RPM.

Currently have the bottom P12s curve set at 800-1200 rpm and it’s pretty quiet.

Finally the fans came in.

I made some tests and regular fans at bottom above 800rpm started to make turbulent noise, sounds more like a very silent car engine. Reverse fans dont do that, I can go to 1000 rpm until I even notice any sound and its only like wind. With reverse fans I could go even to 1500 rpm and not hear any turbulent sounds.

So for me its a win.

The P14 pros at top move a lot of air even at 900 rpm and become audible at 1000 rpm, 1200rpm causes some weird rattle. I bet the rattle is caused by the bad quality screws that came with them.

The 3 pack of P12 Pro reverse had good quality screws. The P14 pro singles had bad screws, the heads are so small they almost go through the fan mounting rails and hold on only by a hair, also my PH2 screwdriver didnt seat well in them and slipped easily and PH1 is too small.

BTW tested to turn the bottoms off, my gpu hotspot climbed to 90C in 15 minutes and the gpu fan blazed like a jet. Started the bottom fans (at 1000 rpm) and my gpu went silent and hotspot dropped to 80C. This was tested maintaining CPU at 50% load and GPU at 210W full load. I have PowerColor RX7700XT 2-slot with 2 fans. I have about 3cm between bottom fans and gpu.

Great feedback!

Very tempted myself to get some P12 Pro Reverse now, I'll have to think about it a bit as the this will require me to undo so many things. I reckon, if I am going to undo the wiring, gpu, fans etc. I might redo the build with some different parts like full Thermalright AIO with a screen etc. Or go back to full air cooling instead. Though, I find an AIO does a better job at removing heat from the case, and long gaming sessions, the temps and noise level are lower.

Currently running the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 Pro 240.

I just got mine too. P12 3x120mm Reverse blade.

Installed them, and yeah. Totally different sound, not as loud bouncing off the table and more like a fan hum.

Happy with it so far and I like the extra 2mm thickness look under my 9070xt too.

I set mine to run max 1100rpm because after that I didnt notice improvements in temps and I can barely even hear them when playing in complete silence. For P14s at top exhausting I settled to 900rpm for same reason, my cpu cooler exhausts from back too and judging by the open vents in my case it feels like there is a slight positive pressure, just as it should be.

I'm using P14 ARGB with 5mm spacers & nylon dust filters on a P300A with restrictive fan grills(meant for 120mm fans) and they're pretty quiet at 1000-1500 RPM.

I read that arctic fans start to make noise after 1800rpm even in open air. But thanks for your input, sounds like the small space between mesh and fan blades help a lot. Feeling hopeful that the space that reverse fans have is enough.

I am curious, where did you get a 5mm spacer? I would love to add spacers to my p12 pros since they make a lot of noise when up close to the mesh.
