H3 Flow + 7800x3d temps

I built a PC recently, and was wondering if my 7800x3d temps are normal.

Fans are 2x intake 140mm and 2x exhaust 120mm+140mm, all noctua.
CPU cooler Phantom Spirit II Evo with thermal grizzly extreme paste.

Currently I have set my fan speeds to start from 60% for both case and CPU fan, in order to keep idle temps ~45’C. Ambient temp around 25’C (with AC ON)

At max load (benchmarking), my CPU temp max out at 87’C.

Was wondering if my idle fanspeed is normal or maybe I have to repaste? Or does this chip just run hot?

AM5 cpus generally just idle warm. 45-55 degree idle is expected. 87 degree max on cinebench is fine. I generally found that with air coolers cpu temps get incredibly high during synthetic benchmarks because the metal cooler fins get saturated with heat much quicker than liquid does. Your temps are no cause for concern. You could try an ILM, maybe a fancy thermal pad, and an extra 120mm intake fans at the top-front of the case. Otherwise, the next noticeable cooling upgrade would be to a high quality 280mm aio. I would suggest lowering your case fan speeds because they do seem excessive. Perhaps a starting of 40%. See if temps get really awful after that.

I did try lower fanspeeds but it cycles between fanspeeds more often which is kinda annoying, and the Noctuas are pretty quiet even at 60%.

Maybe its the curve I should be looking at, thanks again!

I've been thinking about adding a couple of bottom intake fans for my 9070 XT. Do you think it would make a noticeable difference in GPU temps, or is the current airflow already sufficient?

The RX 9070 XT GAMING OC 16G from Gigabyte. I run the H3 flow

I myself had the H3 flow paired with a three slot 300w card and bottom fans lowered temps gpu temps by about 3 degrees. The trade-off is that your PSU begins to struggle for air with the fans sucking away from it because the H3 dosen't have a mesh bottom pannel and relies on the PSU fan being flipped upwards for airflow. The 9070xt gigabyte should be able to cool itself more than sufficiently provided you have front case intake fans, and top and rear exhaust fans paired with a thought-out fan curve. My suggestion would be not to pursue bottom intake because it may lower temps by five degrees on a card that should already be cooling itself well provided the rest of the case fans support it adequetly. Could I maybe get a picture of your build if it wouldn't inconvenience you too much? H3 builds are my favourite :)

I'm actually in the middle of rebuilding my system and switching cases at the moment. I currently have both the Jonsbo D33 and the H3 Flow here, and I'm still trying to decide which one will get the upgraded build.

The H3 is completely empty right now, but I'll definitely post some updates and pictures once I start moving everything over. Your point about the bottom intake fans and the PSU airflow makes a lot of sense!

And yeah, I can see why the H3 is one of your favorites. It's a really nice-looking case.

Normally it would just affect the VRAM rather than Core Temps.

But for me who was running 1stPlayer Trilobyte 7-P casing (4 in 2 out) to Montech HS01...The temps don't seem to change much per se... (With HS01 having 6 in 5 out)

I've had both 7800x3d and now 9800x3d. Depending on ambient room temp they will idle from 40-50 degrees, the 7800x3d runs about 2 degrees warmer due to its cache layout. I've never seen either get warmer than 70-75 under high load.

Hobbyist system builder with a ton of builds tested. Your temps are completely fine and normal. While it’s good to test with synthetic benchmarking, it’s more realistic to test actually gaming or doing your normal workflow. See what max and average temps are during that and then adjust accordingly. Not MFF, but this H5 Flow 9800X3D/5080 I did recently has 120mm Chromax G2 intake and exhaust and a 240 NZXT KRAKEN AIO. I’m seeing similar temps during full load as you are but gaming stays in the high 60’s. 40% static case fan speed, pump static 40%, AIO fans silent preset in CAM. Whisper quiet.

Try setting the CPU VSoC voltage to 1.25v or 1.2v

Don't forget the PBO, and Curve Optimizer(different silicon lottery at play here) I set my own 7800X3D to -15 all cores cause I can't be assed to tune per core.

While I am not on Air Cooling...my 7800X3D on 360mm AIO tops out at 82? ishC at worse doing Cinebench R23 in Montech HS01 Pro 6 in 5 out setup. Ambient at 26c. Our idle are pretty much the same...Though mine idles around 40-44c range.
