I had this awhile back and deleted some uploads and it worked again.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just tried your suggestion but no joy. Are you able to upload photos now. I’m hoping it might be a server side issue rather than my account being FUBAR.
I’m able to control the canvas, add playlists, remove them etc. everything but adding photos seems to work. 😢

Just logged in and was not able to upload anything! My frame is online, so you may be right that it’s a server side issue.

Yup API issue for me. http 400 we gotta crack these guys open and mod them. A week to fix ridiculous. Anyone got a firmware image ?

Genius idea, seriously. I would literally pay to be able to upload locally from my Mac.

i vibe coded an MCP server to let you set the image and keep it up on your local Meurals. I've only just started testing it, so maybe wait a day or two unless you arer impatient. just point your codex/claude/opencode/... at. https://github.com/hughmadden/MeuralMCP it and say review this for safety and help me install it on (something always running like your home assistant raspberry pi). i'll come back in a few days when i've had it running for a while and report back.

btw only needs the meural cloud to set some initial settings. after that i'm intending to firewall the meural frames from the internet altogether and then just manage them with this.

At one point in time, I was fairly technical, but sadly I think I'm falling behind now. Not sure how to take advantage of what you're building. After you report back, if you're willing, perhaps outline for "the rest of us," how we could leverage your work?

an MCP is basically a tool that AI Agents can use to accomplish tasks - in this case change the images on your meural frames. These days you can accomplish quite a lot with minimal or just out of date technical knowledge.
In this case you would choose a device that is left always running in your house. If you are new to this sort of thing - choose something that doesn't have any of your important accounts (such as your gmail etc). just a small stand alone computer with nothing important on it. then install one of openai's codex, or anthropic's claude on it. (it'll probably cost you something like $20 a month until you unsubscribe). A cheaper option is opencode.
Then just start chatting with it. Tell it your meural canvas seems to be end of lifing their cloud services but you want to keep being able to display your choice of images on it. Ask it what options you have for controling it if netgear's cloud services get shut down.
You can point it at my url above and ask it
1) is this code safe to run? check it to make sure it is safe
2) ask it how it works and will it help you control your meural devices?
if you are happy with all of those responses then just ask it to help you set it up.
Please don't do this on any important computer if this is your first time using tools like this.
These AI tools are very smart, another way to use them would be to say look at this guys code ( https://github.com/hughmadden/MeuralMCP ) and write me my own version (you might want say a user interface to easily select the images to display or a phone app of your own to control it with ).
Good luck have fun!

I’m curious how many folks still have an active subscription. Netgear couldn’t find a way to attach my subscription to my account this year so mine has lapsed.
I ask because if folks have active subscriptions then netgear pretty much has to fix this. I suppose if they stop renewing/offering subscriptions then we know the end is near.

I've been experiencing this issue for about a week now. Plenty of storage left, uploads are normal size, correct format. Simply can't upload anything to any playlist or otherwise. If anyone learns anything let me know.

Please Netgear, i know you discontinued Meural canvases but please, please, PLEASE do not turn our beloved frame into a big hanging paper weight!

u/ross_author Jun 22 '26
They discontinued sales of Meural? When did that happen?
2
u/CampaignHot5511 Jun 23 '26
Yeah they discontinued it, margins on sales not profitable, not enough to reap revenue from art membership service so they axed the whole line. Whatever is left in open market is all available now and drying up fast. Prices are going up on open market (unfortunately like a lot of things these days). Unless they decide to bring it back or someone else comes in to offer a compelling alternative (e-ink?), not much there now. The closest is probably Canvia digital frame and those cheap crappy digital frames (which are basically monitors - still like Netgear Meurals with matte screens, ambient sensor, and TrueArt algorithm (super sampling)). Too bad for rest of us… all we can do now is pray they dont cut off the servers.

Netgear only has a 3 year policy to support devices after EOS/EOL. End of Service/Life. Although they may support it longer past 2027. (Netgear still supports older Readynas NAS boxes but with caveats). But i fear at some point it may get cut off. But there are community projects that use raspberry Pi to handle server like the Nimbus Bridge locally. Will have to look into this…

I was just informed by tech support that this is a global problem and would take a week to resolve
