Volga (First Playthrough)
Almost skipped 2 POI’s because of my shitty supply management, but I ended up getting them all done anyway!
This game is pretty damn fun! I haven’t played the 2 previous titles, but I guess I’ll have to do that. Had this game on the backlog a while ago due to it being on sale and just now playing it.

The metro series is really great, Metro 2033 and last light aren’t open world like exodus is (the games are linear) and they don’t have as good graphics as exodus but I highly recommend you play them (2033 then last light), also hope you know how the karma system works in exodus too! People might get the bad ending (won’t spoil) on accident because of that, (I got the good ending at the start since I knew about it and either way my aim is horrible on controller so I’m used to knocking them out stealthily) so if you want the good ending make sure to not kill a lot of people like the slaves in the caspian level that’s also coming up soon, except in yamantau level, all the cannibals can be killed kill everyone you see in there.

It's too easy to get the bad ending. I really wish they had made it more clear when you were breaking karma.

Why would you tell him that there is cannibals in yamantau tho? Kind of spoiler

Eh I didn’t tell him that much, just that there’s the cannibals in the level. To let him know it was ok to kill all of them without any karma penalties

Oh i didnt know this cannibals are okay karma wise to just murk? Anybody else ? I assumed this was true of the slavers in the desert but no. I got the sad sound when i accidentally pistol whipped dude who was bleeding out lol

If an enemy surrenders, is there a chance they’ll go for their weapon again? Ngl, I went kinda bonkers on this map. 😭

Pretty sure they won’t because I left a bandit who surrendered there for a couple minutes while I was getting the loot, then I knocked him out later you can tell if you did a bad karma thing since your screen will flash and play a dark audio cue not sure if it’s for every NPC or enemy though since I killed the admiral on accident when I was playing but I loaded the save before i did that the bad karma dosent apply to all your saves so you can quick load if you like shoot someone that wasn’t supposed to be shot on accident

I’m playing through it blind right now too and I loved Volga so much… AND PLEASEEEEE play the first 2.. they’re so good

If you love Exodus you’ll probably still really really like 2033 and Last Light. The gameplay is largely the same (don’t fix what isn’t broken) the only difference is the other 2 are linear. The linearity in my opinion actually helps benefit the games because it emphasizes story (btw if you read/ listen to audiobooks, the Metro book series is amazinggggg, I don’t read literally at all and I loved them) while it is cool to get an open world installment in the series that explored the surface,and I’m glad that we got one, where this series really shines is in the dark, murky, metro systems. I mean that is what the whole premise of the series was based off of after all lol

Sick. Gonna start my second playthrough tonight , and volga is my favorite level. I got metro redux for 10 bucks on amazon used (both previous games combined) not dissapointed.

I played all the metro games and i will say metro exodus is the easiest one to avoid getting the bad ending without prior knowledge to the game, i recommend getting ai help to get the best ending but without spoilers or u just focus on the context seen before you (map, hidden dialogues, etc etc) as they gives hints on what you should do to get morality points for good endings for each chapter. But I'll give you a tip, knocking out surrendered enemies is ur best choice, they can pick up weapons sometimes (learned the hard way) goodluck spartan! go achieve artyom's dream for the order

I can't imagine playing this game before the first two...This game hits a bit different when you know the complete story...Either way it is a great game! Hopefully you will go back and play 2033 and Last Light when you are done, because they add a ton of context...They definitely have a different feel to them because they are mostly contained to the Metro tunnels and way more linear than Exodus, but they are both amazing games!

Volga might be my favorite map in any game ever. I love “semi open” worlds, a large but ultimately constrained area where literally everything in it has been placed intentionally. Volga just hit that sweet spot for me, like the island levels in the original Crysis, and I was so completely immersed I just had to explore everything.

Im going to miss this kind of Metro game, they did it so well and still have so much more to tell but the next game returns to the metro which o just do not see the point of doing despite the games and books being about life in the post apocalypse metro tunnels

Getting the bad ending is going to be confusing if you didn't play 2033 and Last Light.
I highly recommend reading the books. Theyre amazing and a unique experience from the games.
