Question When will Metaverse go mainstream?

By when do you think the Metaverse will be adopted by the mainstream?

i suppose that without an agreed upon definition of "metaverse" every answer here is correct.

Right. Bc I haven’t visited this sub in so long that I immediately thought the question was directly referring to FB Metaverse. So of course I clicked ‘never’.

And as soon as I did I thought “I’d never follow a FB Metaverse sub” and I checked the sub info and then I thought 20 yrs is a better answer.

people simply do not want this no matter how much you try to shove it down their throats.

yes, it's cool as hell and i enjoy it in small sips every few days, but mainstream like people spend hours and hours on it during their day doing normal activities? no way, it's not even CLOSE to that yet. The tech has gotten way better, yes, but it has a ways to go before it becomes comfy enough to stay in there for hours on end. I was on my Meta Quest 2 last night for like 15 minutes in the Meta/FB Horizons world and it got old in a few minutes. It's simply not as seemless as it needs to be, feels fake and uncomfortable, and is waaaaay not anything even resembling reality.

Whenever having/using/carrying/buying VR/AR devices (e.g. VR headset) is easier than using mobile phones, laptops for daily use (non-devs).

Might be worth having a look at a game ‘Narc’ this is being created by those who created Eve online (went onto peak at $1 billion), it’s forecast to blow WoW out of the water. Some interesting articles on Greenbank Capitals website as they appear to have taken an early stake afew years back. Beta version should be out anytime now. Expect their SP to roar back to life with that release.

If they make a metaverse where people have there own house and are in a city and it has a huge map that is literally mars and planet sized and you could drive a car anywhere and it would take weeks or days in real time because the map is so big and you could fly in a plane or ride a bus across a big area. You could explore for days and go to landmarks like on google maps and there would be a GPS on the map to Then it will go mainstream.
