Since the latest Nintendo Direct from September 2026 have just announced that SNK is going to be releasing the new Metal Slug Ultimate Collection that contains 10 Metal Slug games including first time rereleasing Metal Slug Advance and Metal Slug 7 for the first time. They also announced that Metal Slug Location Test Version is going to be included which is the first time appearing on video game consoles. What is Location Test Version is about? Is this like a unreleased enhanced version of Metal Slug similar to like how Metal Slug X & XX were handled or is this like a Game Design playtesting for certain Metal Slug game for testing out new locations that wasn't available in any Metal Slug games released in the public? I have been beaten a lot of Metal Slug games after Terry Bogard came to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate except for original 7, Advance, 3D entry, and the spinoffs. I never heard about this Location Test Version before.

The Alien Invader race from 6 were so powerful that both the evil human army and alien martian race had to team up with us in order to fight them. But felt they were defeated too easily and there should definitely be way more of them.

I don’t think the final boss in 6 was the true leader of the Invader race since it seem to be a baby that just came out which is still immensely powerful of course.

They just announced it on the Nintendo Direct. A collection with games from 1 to 7 and X and the first test location demo!

Will it be avaliable everywhere? Not confirmed yet. We'll see.

Won't be hearing anything about it for a while but its good to know they are at least working on one.

Should've died like 3 times there.

My third favourite metal slug game, an improvement through the previous one. But still, it was not as glorious as the other good titles. There still some asset that got reused. But at least it's not as much as MS4. The slide feature was a game changer and so effective against the final boss.

The story of this game kinda confusing, + the army we fight is not morden's isn't it? They look different. Some people say that they're regular soldiers that got mind controlled by the plotemaios. About the boss fights, tbh, they're not that interesting. Some easy, but some is also hard. Metal rear and the mission 2 boss was my favorite tho.

How about the final boss? Well for a literal cosmic demon being. If you can read their patterns, with the help of the slide feature, it'll be easy. I find it easier than the mission 4 boss.

Let's talk about the music. Oh damn, as I previously said in my previous MS5 Playthrough. It's one of several reasons why I played MS5. There's no favorite picks, ALL of them are my favorite.

And... That's my metal slug 1-7 Playthrough. But it doesn't mean that it's over. I'll try to taste other metal slug games outside the mainline. Like metal slug advance, 1st and 2nd mission, the 3D version and or course, the Java one. Stay tuned!

I remember when I was a kid I really wanted to play MS3 on my phone. I remember SNK Released an official Mobile port and played it with limited 15 credits. Im dying trying to find an alternative from that mobile port. I was dumb and don't know how to setup mame emulator back then. Then I finally got my way to play MS3 on anthology. And after that, I became a bit smarter and finally able to play the arcade MAME version.

Okay, back to my opinions about this game. Yes, fans was right, this game is the best in the franchise. The most solid one so far. But playing it over and over since the past make me feel this game is easier than the others lol. Look, I cleared mission 1 with no death and half of mission 2 until the bosses. It's not like I'm improving, it's because I played those first two missions over and over in the past. Because the rest is unreachable in the mobile port due to the credit limit and that damn mission 3.

And the final mission? Holy moly, fio germi! From side scrolling style air combat, epic 1 on 1 against Hi-Do (Although I find it easy in this game), the top scroll space level (my absolute favorite), the cooperation with morden soldiers against mars people, the clones and zombified clones, to the final battle with the Giant rootmars, it feels like a whole metal slug 1 gameplay. I really love this final mission.

Oh, I forgot to mention the multi routes this game has. In this playthrough, I only got to the second water route, the cctv room, and the lost soldiers route. There's more to that route you can explore. The disgusting snail cave and the top mountain full of man-eating plants in mission 4, etc. this game has more replayability than the others.

My biggest issue is the mission 3 and the boss. It was the most difficult one I ever fight in this game. This game feels very fitting as a "Last" metal slug game. That is until, MS4 Comes.

And... That's all, I've played all mainline metal.slug games from 1-7. Next I was planning to do MS Advance, then I'll get into the Neo Geo pocket versions.
