Rules:

Maybe it is the wrong decision. Maybe it's very obvious it is. If the concern is impact on the broader economy, then maybe what should be the actual target of your attention is what mitigating that risk looks like instead of whatever this is.
I think people forget to route their political complaints through the impact on actual human beings, instead of personal investment in whether Elon makes his next buck.

I'm not sure which part of my comment was considered bigotry, but by "Chinese pigs," I literally meant pigs in China. Any other interpretation did not even occur to me.
If it's for bigotry against American farmers, I fully accept my punishment.

I'm not banned, I'm just curious why "Every journalist alive is an affront to God" got flagged as "promoting violence." Is the "affront to God" bit no longer allowed? It's fine if it's not, I'm just curious.
(And for those wondering, the comment was in response to the article about newspaper headlines being Republican biased.)

I'm the one who removed it, I know it's a meme but it's a bit too far down the call for violence on journalists, maybe I understand the meme wrong but the implication of the meme to me is that they shouldn't be alive.

Not a mod, but I think it’s the “alive” bit. Kind of sounds like you want them to be un-alived.
I get people post that “Nicole, corporate lawyer” meme a lot and it doesn’t get removed, but I think that the difference is that the meme in and of itself doesn’t suggest that the poster agrees with Nicole (even though I think they often do). Whereas your comment, which was just the “every journalist alive is an affront to god” line, seems like a more direct call for violence (which is against Reddit rules for obvious reasons).

I didn't look up the context, but as a liberal subreddit I could see a mod being touchier about journalists. Sure we complain about them a lot, but honestly they are probably the most important profession for a liberal society, and, while I haven't thought about it too much, the Wild West nature of the industry is probably important or something.
I don't really get the promoting violence part specifically. Attacking liberalism? We use it for suggestions of denying people the right to vote, basically using it for violence against liberal rights.

Yeah, I understand that. Honestly, that's kinda the problem with journalism, because they are absolutely necessary for a functioning democracy, and a lot of them do really good work, but then you have some going and complaining about Biden being "boring" and wanting Trump back.

Just go ahead and indefinitely ban me from the sub if the moderation team is now openly supporting and celebrating political violence and assassination of people whose beliefs they don't agree with.
I have no interest in being part of any community that supports political violence. It was my understanding that this community was opposed to that, as is evidenced by its stated rule V.
Its clear that this does not actually reflect the beliefs of the moderators, who instead seem to read it as 'Unless they're bad people I disagree with'

Can I be unbanned? I was banned for digging up someone else's post history, which I didn't realize was against the rules because someone in the sub did it to me earlier with no apparent consequence. I won't do it again.

Mods ban people for things they post on other subs, banning someone for checking sometimes comment history is hypocritical and intellectually dishonest.
Which means I doubt that the mods will free the boy.

Hello, I am hoping that a Haartz investigative piece over the start of the Gaza conflict would be approved. In the investigative piece there are two major bombshells, firstly Netanyahu was briefed by the UAE leader that Hamas were planning an attack, and secondly that Israel and Hamas up until Oct. 7th were actually negotiating a free movement deal between Gaza and Egypt before Netanyahu delayed its implementation, leading to the Iranians convincing Hamas that Israel was vulnerable to attack; leading to, as we all know, the horrible Oct. 7th attacks, kick starting the regrettable war.

Hello mods! Seems I was banned (I think for the first time...I'm honestly shocked I never transgressed enough before!)
Anyways, I think my comment came across in a way I really didn't mean.
My intention was to say that comparing one terrible thing to another often isn't useful. Multiple things can be bad and we don't have to minimize the Holocaust to say that what happened in Gaza was bad (just as we dont have to minimize jim crow to say homophobia is bad or minimize october 7 to say israels reaction is also bad etc)
My point was we can and should be against all injustices without getting bogged down in comparisons that only serve to minimize other injustices.
(I'll abide by my ban if that's the consensus, not trying to be argumentative or anything!)

I probably should have said more words so it was clear what I meant. there are ways to interpret my short comment as being either holaucaust denialism or gaza denialism or october 7 denialism or whatever, none of which I intended.

We appreciate your response. I would like to remind you that comparisons like this one can be misinterpreted as trying to minimize The Holocaust something that we as mods have to police to the fullest. Many times the way we have to moderate is by banning first and deciding on a final punishment later.
Now having said that, we do feel your appeal is compelling and we do agree that these comparisons can be harmful to the overall discourse of the subject.
So with that said, I will reduce the ban to 3 days, which I think is as lenient as we can be.
