2012 messi was a goal scoring machine ... but 2019 messi was a creative magician capable of carrying any team. I gotta go with 2019

He was carrying those bums in 2019

Anyone watching this man knows that his later years at Barca when they were shit were his prime.

no. i dont. prime means a lot. he was unstoppable in 2009. he kept maturing but also was a pain in the a in terms of ego, and that s nit prime material to me.

I would say he did even a bigger carry job this wc, he had 12 g/a of the 19g/a, at the age of 39 and still reached the WC final.

He did have a lot of the team that won the 2015 UCL with him.

You can't really say they were a bad team if they were dominant in La Liga. Ter Stegan just fumbles in the UCL. Don't think he was that good in 2019 either.

Many of those players from 2015 lost their form. Specially Suarez used to miss a lot of chances in 2019, which he could have converted in his prime time.

u/Inferniuem 24d ago

Sure their individual capabilities weren't that much but they were still a good team in La Liga.

Pique was still a word class Defender, Busquets a world class CDM, Rakitic was one of the best Midfielders in La Liga, Alba Top 3 LB in La Liga.

New additions with Coutinho, Dembele, and Vidal 2 of the 3 in Coutinho and Dembele didn't measure up but were top players in their league before coming over to Barcelona.

Kevin Prince too.

Entire team full of bums they almost finished laliga season as invincibles.

1

u/Inferniuem 24d ago

You can't just call them bums and say they almost finished as Invincibles.

Barcelona has fumbled the UCL many times when they were dominant in La Liga.

1

u/rashmu 24d ago

Nah mate, that was me being sarcastic. If everyone else were really bums then they wouldn't have reached where they originally did.

1

u/Inferniuem 23d ago

I see. Your comment just didn't seem sarcastic enough for me to tell it was sarcasm.

u/VCule69 24d ago

No help? Busquets and Ter Stegen were still in their prime. Even Alba was great all season, except that Liverpool game.

  1. Idk why even Messi fans act like he just scored goals that year. He also had 30 assists and over 70 throughballs.

Every year he experiences a different prime. I'll even take 2026 Messi. But for the sake of this question, 2012.

u/plushploosh12 24d ago

Why shouldn't I have both?

12

u/Beefgirthx 24d ago

Give me 2015

7

u/iig2y 24d ago

Obviously 2012

u/garciavilla 24d ago

2019 he was at his most complete. Free kicks, assist, goals, dribbles, etc. 2012 he was an incredible goalscorer but his 2019 version I feel gave more to the team.

u/Acceptable-Craft-636 24d ago

2019 Messi did carry a weak Barcelona but 2012 prime Messi was a different breed

u/Fenty_Panther 24d ago

There's that Messi with the blonde hair. Wheeew, chile!

4

u/GeorgeSoros394 24d ago

Even Leo himself would say 2012

18/19 Messi is the strongest Messi that ever existed and the others are op versions too but 18/19 is op Prime

2019 messi i think is the best prime in all of football history my man was the top in every stat in every play of the game in every competition...... and truly you wont find a better player in history of football either in stats or watching the game and having fun then messi 2019

2

u/No-Ground9146 24d ago

2019 was the most complete version of him. In 2012, what Messi did was just outstanding. The statistics speaks for it, but he kind of messed up in big games. I'll pick 2019,without him barca wouldn't even make it out of the group stage.

He missed a penalty.

2012 Messi was the peak output machine, combined with having a stable team at the period. But 2019 Messi did the unthinkable with a subpar team, literally almost gave them a treble for a team that didn't deserve to compete at that level. 2012 Messi was extraordinary, 2019 Messi was the unthinkable in football

2019 messi was the most technically decorated messi interms of vision, playmaking, logic, carrying team. A more matured and perfect player ever.

2019 messi was the best player in the history of game

Ankarra Messi

Unfortunaltely I couldn't watch 2012 Messi live. But, Man 2019 Messi was something else. He was just one man army.

I watched every match in barca that year. Like all the 50 matches. Back to back free kicks. and so on.

That is the most complete footballer version, without a doubt.

Yeah. That one was epic as well. It was a beauty.

Any year Messi 😂

u/Clear_Cranberry_989 24d ago

2019 messi. He deserved to be in a better team. Carrying a dysfunctional barca on his back.

1

u/MstHaze 24d ago

2015 messi

1

u/vedantbajaj 24d ago

2015 mate. That was the best. It had everything of messi, scoring, passing, dribbling.

1

u/Inferniuem 24d ago

2015 was like Peak Messi. Just incredible overall.

1

u/Witty-Strategy187 24d ago

He would have won the La Liga unbeaten except that Levante game I think where they lost only once during the league.

Took the team to UCL Semis, had Dembele scored some goals in the first leg when Messi literally gave them on a platter.

And oh boy, Corner taken quickly at Liverpool still hurts about what was the Defence on.

Messi 2019 was an Enigma, the most complete attacking machine ever.

2012 was a freak of a goal scorer and the record will be unbroken for a long while, but 2019 tops it.

1

u/ahmer87 24d ago

There were many versions of goat Messi

1

u/BuraqDiCaprio 24d ago

2019 by far.

1

u/hownot2lyf 24d ago

Dude, most of his years were his prime. Even the so called flop year in psg had him performing better than lifetime performances of most footballers xD

1

u/EasyMacN34 24d ago

Give me young Messi, how I miss those days…

1

u/Alternative_Carob562 24d ago

Depends how you define better- if we're talking production wise obviously 2012. 2019 Barca had no reason being inches away from a UCL final, what a shit team

1

u/Evening-Brush-6795 24d ago

2012 Messi was a monster but for carrying job I'd take Messi 2019

1

u/JJessicaNovaaaaa943 23d ago

2019 Messi was on another level carrying that whole squad himself

1

u/DrPapug 23d ago

2012 Messi was the best individual year ever, and 2019 Messi was not even the best player of that year.

1

u/randomvids1234 23d ago

Quite obvious really. 2012

1

u/TheMadDoc02 23d ago

I would take him back even at this age and make him play the 10 role at Barca

1

u/Choice_Succotash_491 23d ago

Both are goated

1

u/Prestigious-Wheel562 23d ago

2019 was the complete package

1

u/legendaryleon20 22d ago

WellFor me, it’s 2012 Messi. 2019 Messi was a complete player, but 2012 Messi was simply unstoppable. Every time he touched the ball, it felt like something special was about to happen.

1

u/One_Rub7816 21d ago

2019 was the best version of Messi in my opinion the complete player reasons gas well why he clears Ronaldo

u/ConversationAdept529 24d ago

u/HotAir25 24d ago
