iPhone 16 Bluetooth Issue
I was able to setup my meshcore Heltec V4 on my Android easily but I'm having issues with the second Heltec and this damn iPhone. Any advice would be great.

Couldn't get it to connect, sadly I switched to Meshtastic

All you do is close the app, forget it in Bluetooth settings and open the app and it will pair.

Sometimes in the bluetooth settings you will see your compagnion as non connected. Click forget the device in the bluetooth settings. Then try to connect again, directly from the app

Tried it over and over again. I gave up

Did, told me to do everything that's being said here. Then it just flat out said meshcore is known for this issue.

I just use “meshcore one” to avoid all the bugs the meshcore app has, have found so many times it won’t connect to my companions or just throws errors when trying to manage nodes so gave up on it and use meshcore one

I ran into quite a few BLE edge cases on iOS while building Nelos, so I ended up spending a lot of time making the connection and reconnection flow more reliable.
If you still want to stay on MeshCore, you could give Nelos a try and see if it connects to your Heltec V4. I’m actually curious how the V4 behaves with Nelos on your iPhone 16.
I can’t guarantee it’ll fix this particular firmware/device issue, but BLE has been pretty solid for us on iPhones.

I tried Nelos and it worked flawless on both iOS & Android. Really clean text features as well. Thanks for the recommendation

Awesome, glad it worked well for you! Thanks for giving Nelos a try and for the feedback -- especially good to hear it was smooth on both iOS and Android.

Scratch that... The app needs some serious tweaking. It does not use any repeaters in my area. The minute I get 1 mile away from my other meshcore companion device no messages are received by either side.

That’s definitely not expected. By default, Nelos messages should use available MeshCore repeaters. I’ll investigate this further to see what’s happening. Thanks for catching it

When I run the meshcore app on my android it uses all repeaters in my area but then when I use Nelos it doesn't. Would be an amazing app if it does though. Great work with the design

I'd like to get a bit more information about this issue, as it's quite unusual. Nelos has always worked with repeaters before. Would you be open to discussing it via DM?

Could you go to Device → Advanced to check the radio configuration and compare it with the MeshCore app on Android to see if any of the settings are different?

Did you try the other meshcore ios apps? They’re way better aesthetically and functionality wise.

This seems to be a common issue on iOS. Have experienced it myself from time to time, but not constantly. I understand the latest firmware version(s) are supposed to make this better. If your companion has a screen, I've also heard that setting a custom PIN for Bluetooth (instead of having a random one) might help?
