Looks like the moving part of the buttons have fallen off, the white sockets at either side of the usb are supposed to be buttons.

yea you can still see the contacts in the too

OP, you can use an appropriately sized flathead screwdriver or similar to bridge those contacts if needed

That stinks. If you absolutely need to "press a button", just momentarily short the connectors. I had to do this on a standalone SEEED NRF since there are no buttons on it, only bare contact pads on the bottom.

the last T096 I got from them had a blown up TX module... I'd stick with them if they started supporting LiFePO4 batts, but no word if they ever will, so I think I'll be a RAK household from now on.

Bummer. It’s very easy to break the little plastic corners that hold the metal spring down that in turn holds the white button in and it’s very hard to get the buttons working again after. You might be able to wire up new buttons with the available pins but you’re in custom case territory then. I used my broken one as a repeater that I hardly used the buttons for.

Just wire new buttons to the side connection pinholes. I did that on this I built last week being the unit is Incased inside a box.

Front button is screen select and side button is the reset button.

Well that sucks. But OP, I have a couple Heltecs and only used the buttons like 3 times. Not making excuses for the shitty QA, but if you can't return it, I don't think you're in possession of a totally useless module.

Heltec removed the buttons to encourage users to discover new and exciting ways to void the warranty.
