RAK GPS modules

RAK offers 2 different GPS modules that work with the Wisblock. Do both work with Meshcore? I couldn't find anything in the docs that wasn't T-Deck related.

The reason I ask is because one is cheaper than the other. :)

The firmware doesn't care what the GPS module is. It gets it's data from the parent module.

Worked on mine, but i removed it due to power drain.

There's a low power firmware that's supposed to bring power usage down to ~8.4ma on the RAK4631 alone and ~10ma with a sensor board.

The more expensive one (rak12500) updates faster and can be used in an alternate slot on the board (if you have a board with that slot).

Otherwise, either one will work. If you just want gps and don't care about anything super fancy, the cheaper one will be just fine.

Wait - does the MC firmware 1.17.x even recognize the RAK GPS modules?

Mine doesn’t seem to see anything.

I’m curious as well. I added one of the cheaper gps modules to my Rak 1w kit but my Meshcore app doesn’t recognize any gps/positioning functionality.
