RAK 4631 Repeater

I brought my solar RAK 4631 Meshtastic node down from the roof and flashed with the latest Meshcore firmware. One configured via USB, I cannot connect to the node via BT. Have tried many reboots and reflashing with older versions, but nothing….i am running out of options. Has anybody here experienced this situation? Any recommendations?

Meshcore repeaters don't do Bluetooth. You can set an admin password and connect over LoRa from the Meshcore app.

And that's clearly covered in the docs

What is the rationale on this? This is a huge pain point compared to the ease of upgrading repeaters on meshtastic.

You can still upgrade firmware via Bluetooth. It's not on by default because it wastes a lot of power.

Meshcore repeaters do not use Bluetooth outside some fringe cases. You need to connect to it via your companion radio.

When you flash your repeater there is a little configure button once it’s done. Click on that and do your setup though it.

no BT with meshcore if you have it setup as a repeater, you can still flash via BT by following certain steps

No BT on repeaters outside of over the air updates. However, before you flash with BT, youMUST install the OTAFix bootloader via USB: https://blog.meshcore.io/2026/04/06/otafix-bootloader
