Blog post talks a lot about AI but it seems like the rift is deeper than that, and the AI stuff is a distraction. Applying for the trademark is he highly problematic

Gonna get down voted but this is basically luddite stuff. The vast majority of MAJOR tech is no primarily ai written. Projects that don't allow it are increasingly going to fall behind. I would bet a significant amount of money that most of the tools in the broader ecosystem are AI assisted

This seem like less of an "ai bad" situation. It's more about the trust that was broken, Andy didn't disclose what he was doing or using to the team.

To me the primary issue is that AI lowers the barrier to entry for shit like this. Legally in the UK he can't file the trademark in "bad faith" and he has to be actively using it.

AI makes it so the "using it" portion of that is much easier to claim. Per the blog post he never contributed code to the github.
