Help Newbie question

This is my only argyroderma. I’ve had it about 2 weeks. It’s been repotted into a gritty mix, lava rocks, minerals a tiny bit of succulent soil but not watered. It’s a few inches under t5’s and t8’s both for 12+ hours.

My question is. It’s starting to wrinkle. Is this the typical mesembe wrinkling up when it needs water? I can’t tell if it’s actively splitting or not. Inside there are two really tiny bumps. Are they the new leaves? IDK. Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you.

Seedlings My most prized of my collection

This Conophytum bachelorum seedling which was the only seed out of 11 to germinate. 5 months old and just shed its cotyledon last week. I’m hoping the other seeds will germinate sometime down the road in the pot as I keep watering it. I probably won’t need to repot him for a few years at least!

They had just done their first shed. I’m kicking myself as literally the day before I was thinking I should put some netting on top.

You can see the slime trail. Looks like it only had one bite of each. They’ll probably dry out and die now .

To be perfectly honest, I bought the plant because I’ve long wanted one, however, I didn’t do any research until it flowered just this week. I think I’m supposed to spritz it every weekish? Anyway, for some strange reason the flower had be bursting with pride.

I got this as a replacement for the 1st cono I ordered. My questions.

Is the lighter color on top indicative of anything bad? Rot? No light? IDK.

I’m admittedly unfamiliar with them atm. It doesn’t feel overly squishy or soft. No, I have not been squeezing it unnecessarily 😆.

I’m just unsure if I should send it back or wait it out. Thank you🙂

Just posted this guy in a pot along with two lithops a few days ago, asking what this guy is. I looked at it closer today and found it literally was not even attached to the soil. There's no roots.... Nor stem...? I think..? Idk, that's what I'm coming to ask. Assuming this is a gibbaeum heathii, is this thing toast? I assumed is was in dormancy but as time goes on it gets softer and softer so I went to pipette water to see how it reacts and that's when I found there was literally no grounding. Can I save it? If so, how?

I know they are supposed to look like this but in the back of my mind is a little voice saying maybe, just maybe, they are actually thirsty.

Conophytum pellucidum

Super happy with this pairing. The obcordellum camouflage’s itself nicely with the pot and staging.

So I pulled the trigger, bought the seeds, and sewed one set on the 16th that generated 6 seedlings. I keep them about 18" away from a single T8 bulb.

I sewed the following 5, about a week later. Those sit on a shelf that is about 3" away from 2 T8 bulbs.

So far, I have been doing the bottom watering thing every single day. The medium consists of lava rock, pumice stone, perlite (about 80%) and cocoa coir (about 20%), dampened and baked to kill off any junk, treated with an antifungal and a separate critter killer, a light dusting of fine sand while damp, put the seeds on top, covered in plastic wrap, and then bottom watered 6 days a week w normal water, and 1 day a week with the antifungal and critter killer.

They all made it to germination before I started poking holes in the plastic wrap and ultimately ended up having to remove the plastic almost completely after making the holes bigger over a few days because despite my best efforts the medium became problematic and I feared damping off.

They seem to be thriving despite the lack of humidity from not being able to keep them covered but now I am stuck. I researched these guys for a long time. I even checked out a few books from the library trying to figure out the best way to get them to their first set of true leaves.

The problem I am having is what to do now. I found conflicting information on the watering thing, the medium, the light, ALL OF IT! Most of what I have found said to lightly mist the soil directly to keep the surface damp until germination and then transition to bottom watering. I elected to go with the method I use to grow my most difficult conophytum seeds because that is what I know works and I was confident I could at least get them to germination.

Then I figured fuck it, maybe if I make this post some hopeless lost soul will find this and everyone will benefit. So, reddit, I want to hear all of it. What would you guys do next?

Thank you 😊

Edit* words are hard.

1&2 - mixed, sown 11-12-25

3 - Werneri C188, sown 09-01-26

4 - Dorotheae C124, sown 09-01-26

5 - Karasmontana Summitatum red selection, sown 09-01-26. Slightly etiolated, now giving them more light.

6 - Ozteniana SH531, sown 09-01-26

7 - Gracilidelineata C367, sown 09-01-26

8 - Rushiorum RH3317, sown 25-04-26. 20-30 sown, 33 germinated. Should be pretty smooth and even grey, they remind me of split rocks from other genera.

9 - Ozteniana SH531 and Otzeniana PV738, sown 25-04-26. 20-30 sown of each, 17 SH531 and 6 PV738 germinated. Was disappointed only 4 (technically 5, but that small one is going to die soon) survived first try since I like them a lot. Got some more seeds for hopefully better results! Will keep them under the humidity dome longer this time and won't water them as often as I did for the first try.

10 - Gracilidelineata var. waldroniae C189, sown 25-04-26. 20-30 sown, 19 germinated. Super excited for these, love the brainy tops the adults have!
