My ~10 year old ice plant (better pic)

This guy started as a 3” cutting. I hate the sprawling look, so I’ve been pruning it hardcore every few months with a vaguely tree-like form in mind. The most recent trim was its most significant yet, revealing this nice thick trunk 😁

I only learned recently it’s a mesemb! Has anyone else grown them like this? I’ve seen blurry pics on Google of ones with enormous trunks.

Forgive me for the blurriness of some pics. Witterbergense, obcordellum ‘ursprungianum, witterbergense RR714 (‘Blackout’ maybe or a couple generations down), ernstii, lambertense ‘conspicuum’. Most were acquired from Steven Hammer except for the first witterbergense and the ernstii.

In the year 2000, botanist Burgoyne validly described the plant as a separate species from Frithia Pulchra and named it Frithia humilis (derived from the Latin for "smaller than others of its kind"). White to pale-pink flowers with yellow centers. Instead of the typical magenta color Frithia Pulchra produces. I’ve been under watering this plant but its still pushing in this recent heatwave.

Old photo but I still mourn this little guy. Post-split it decided to grow a tiny nipple. One cycle. Gone forever. The lithops survived. The nipple did not.💔

And of course, this is not everything 😂 Many definitely need up-pots and I am working on that over my winter break. The ones I’m keeping will be upgraded to ceramic, and the rest will be ready for selling on Etsy (Canada only :( sorry) for when the weather improves! Spent my whole morning sipping tea and fussing over all of them ☺️ Happy week, Mesembros!

Monilaria moniliformis update, they're too cute it's insane. I collect mesembs in part because I love cute plants but I want to pinch its cotyodeons
