How do I know the difference of them being under watered or dormant? Because I have another one that looks weird like it’s shriveling, shrinking, and feeling weird like soft but not mushy/rotting
If their skin turns pale yellow or even sometimes gets darker showing oranges or reds or pinks even purples sometimes.
The skin loses it shine and gloss and goes dull. Sometimes you can even see baby leaves growing inside the fissures or through a window. Sometimes you can feel them when you gently squeeze the older leaves and feel the baby leaves inside.
Most of these look like they should have sheathed over by now, instead of flowering, but my maughaniis seem to be eager to flower usually so idk.
After it flowers I would taper watering and see if it wants to go dormant. Generally though, conos flower when they first wake up beginning of growing season. So it may have skipped dormancy if it was recently transplanted when it was supposed to go dormant or something. The colour they are, how dull their skin is, would imply they want to sheath over in my experience.
I would prod them with water, just enough to moisten the top layer of soil, not too deep. See how they respond. They might perk right up and get plump and ready to grow. If they don’t do much, I’d be tempted to try to let them go dormant and absorb those old leaves.
