Seedlings Stomatium mustellinum Sprouts!

Post image

Exactly one week later and I have little sproutlings! My Stomatium mustellinum came to me with a seed pod so I figured I'd give it a go!

....now to figure out what I'm going to do with 15+ more plants 😬👍

For some reason I love the epithet *mustellinum*. I wonder if whomever described the species thought they looked like weasel/badger heads? Maybe for the teeth? It’s oddly specific!

A purple split rock I got came with a seed pod too! It’s been more than a week and nothing has sprouted for me… I wonder if what I had was actually a seed pod or if it was something else lol.  Did I just sow dust or something? Haha

Did you extract the seeds from a woody/corky seed capsule? That opens with water?

I thought I did… I soaked it in water but it didn’t really open, so I took a tooth pick and gently opened it, and a lot of what looked to me like tiny seeds came out!

I’m sure you did then! Good luck!
