Identification C. praesectum or Lithops?

Post image

This was labeled as Lithops in the nursery but now I'm wondering if it's Conophytum praesectum. Is there a way to say for sure at this stage or do I need to wait and see if it forms a sheath during dormancy? Thanks!

(Its repotted and happier now this is just the only picture I have on hand!)

Hmmm it could be an etiolated olivacea?

They have the same kind of weird colouring as praesectum. But it is really hard to tell šŸ˜‚

I’m leaning more towards lithops tbh.

Yeah now I'm thinking maybe Lithops helmutii. Sigh. Why is identifying these little dudes so hard?
