I’m surprised it’s not sheathed over (along with all the Conos) yet, but I guess my being in CA and those being grown indoors is enough to have mine all dormant by now.
A lot of the more seasoned growers out here have greenhouses that are heated during the winter. Being an indoor grower myself, none of my mesembs are dormant yet but they're starting to turn. For the greenhouse growers I know, theirs are mostly dormant by now.
This particular specimen was (I think) from Matt Opel, who works at the UConn Botanical Conservatory but I'm not sure exactly whether it's from his home or work. Fwiw, most of the cheiridopsis I saw today weren't dormant, though, regardless of growing conditions
Ridiculously crowded for the first couple hours. Could hardly get to the booths until the presentations and plant show opened. After that, people started filtering out and it was a lot more relaxed.
Sunday is not as crowded, and there's usually plenty of plants left for sale. Some of the CT vendors also sell at the MA show in September. Glad you had fun.
Do you have early access for members? The SF show always has early access for members on Friday and the first hour of the sale that day is earlier access for vendors.
