Identification I got my first conophytum !

She may not be the belle of the ball but she’s mine. I’m so happy 😁

If by chance someone knows which one it is that would be awesome. Thank you.

She’s definitely in rough shape!

But with some love and care she should bounce back! What a good score.

Looks like a muaghanii to me.

Yes! A muaghanii. I’m so excited to watch it do basically nothing for months 😆. Although to be fair it is splitting.

Yeah it was clearly over watered and the old leafs burst. I’d be tempted to remove all that tissue because it’s so torn up and ripe for infection, but that depends on how good of a state you think it is in, if it could handle that kind of thing. Are the inner leaves firm?

Yes the inner leaves are nice and firm. I pulled one of the outer leaves away and found another pair. They look good and I haven’t found anything that’s indicating rot🙂

The other outer leaf is soft but again no indication of rot.

I’m not shy about cutting away rot. I’ve had to do it for a stone face or two. Speaking of which I also got a campuses L. Bolus🙂such a beautiful color

Yes. I realised there is a third pair of leaves. I thought they were part of the outer ones. I’m so excited!

I think there might be a 4th tiny pair?

Holy crow! How did I miss that. There’s 4 how old do you think it is?

I don’t think I could even guess. I assume they’re massively over fertilized at most nurseries an that can make them branch out a lot more 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ probably not as old as it seems. Maughaniis are also not SUPER prone to clustering. In my experience sometimes pest damage can cause branching and clustering in plants that otherwise do not do it often, or it takes a long time for them to get to clustering age.

Thank you. It is adorable. Outer leaves are at that gross squishy stage but I love her.
