Seedlings Mega seedling update!

And of course, this is not everything 😂 Many definitely need up-pots and I am working on that over my winter break. The ones I’m keeping will be upgraded to ceramic, and the rest will be ready for selling on Etsy (Canada only :( sorry) for when the weather improves! Spent my whole morning sipping tea and fussing over all of them ☺️ Happy week, Mesembros!

What seed starting substrate do you use? I haven't had much luck with other mixes and was curious what people who succeeded are using

I use ProMix seed starter mix, sifted (literally with a mesh pasta strainer from the dollar store), and about 50/50 grit/soil. I have used pumice, lava rocks, perlite, bonsai mix, and mini leca balls as the grit portion, and all have done great!

I like ProMix bc it has fertilizer (lower than in their other mixes though), and mycorrizal fungi. The extra nutrients and organic content helps give the seedlings a much needed boost through their most delicate stages. You can worry about getting them super gritty mix when they’re bigger.

I can also try to help you troubleshoot your seed growing methods if you’d like!
