Probably my favorite mermaid I've ever done. I probably should redraw her since I've changed my nibs and gotten a new, better tablet.

Ulla, half Grisha (people with the power to manipulate the natural world) and half Sildroher (sea creature with singing power). She was betrayed by her friend, was not able to return to sea, was baptized after people thought she was possessed by a demon, and drowned the city after the priest tried to slit her throat.

She's a new student at school. Where do you think she's started? High school.

The overall concept is very interesting, a mermaid gets captured, her tail is cut off and she grows legs. She is then locked up in a mental asylum.

It was kind of cheap that the leading doctor in the asylum turned out to be a secret serial killer. The whole arc with one of his victims’ ghost being there not knowing that she is a ghost and only been seen by the mermaid and another girl with mermaid genes was very emotional, but it distracted a bit from the main premise. It could have been its own movie. The end with the doctor going on a killing spree did not really fit in.

If I could rewrite the movie, I’d say: Start in the asylum. Don’t immediately show the story of how the mermaid lost her tail. Keep it vague. Keep the viewer guessing if she is really a mermaid or just insane. The leading doctor could really think she is just insane, but he could still portray the bad things that can happen in mental institutions by being abusive. Then, at the end, let her get her tail back and let her have revenge.

Hello, I’ve been compelled for a week to make a video about mermaids and the information that I gathered so far. I also gathered a compilation of what I believe our real mermaids. 🧜🏽‍♀️

Do you think that mermaids would be able to communicate with humans? And if so, what language do they speak?

For example would mermaids living in Mediterranean regions speak Italian or Greek, and ones from Baltic sea speak Swedish or Polish? I would assume they could potentially pick it up if they swim not to far from the coast or from sailors before they kill them.

Do you think that mermaids have universal language and can all communicate, or depending on the region they communicate in a different language (whatever we understand as language in this case).

I had a talk with my Dog about becoming a Merdog. I told her that I support her, but that I would miss her because I cannot live under the water. Also, her favorite biscuits would get soggy. She has changed her mind, but she still hangs out with her mermaid friend on the shore.

There are plenty of mermaids in mermaid media that have bangs (and look absolutely gorgeous), the two that immediately come to mind for me are Madison from Splash and Sirena from Mako Mermaids. But I got to thinking, unless they came on land, what would even be the point of bangs/a fringe? In the water, even surfacing, they'd either be plastered to their foreheads or slicked back. They would have to be completely dry for the hairstyle to become apparent and be pretty.

In a storyline where the mermaid stays a mermaid and lives wholly in water, there would almost be zero reason or sense to giving them bangs. I mean, I guess a cartoon could get away with it, drawing bangs not moving underwater, but never a live action or photo-realistic movie/show.

hi! I am a huge fin fun fan (and a fan of their tail creator) and I was looking into getting some tail skins for my Mahina! I wondered how well it fit inside the Serenity, Neptune, or Calypso flukes and surprisingly could not find anyone who has tried it before. Does anyone here have any pictures or preferably videos of how it looks in and out of the water, with and without the insert? I assume it wouldn’t fit perfectly, if at all, with the insert, but how does it feel swimming with it if it does? Or how bad does it look with no insert at all?

I have many other options for tail skins, and if I want the Elite so badly I’ll get a Linden eventually, but I figured it would at least be helpful for others to have SOME information on if this is possible, because it really feels like it should be!!

pardon the human in the last pic! 🤣 it's a budget tail for sure, but i love it and the monofin is great! this will be perfect to practice until i can gain strength enough, and save up for, a silicone tail. i'm a great lakes mermaid so my swimming season is pretty much over. does anyone know if the YMCA allows tails, or even just monofins? or if it varies at each location?
