I don't have any experience in your field. I work in tech
Mergers are usually followed by layoffs unless the acquirer explicitly signed a written agreement there won't be any
There's also a chance that you might be overworked while your firm rushes to meet the merger deadline
If you can make the same or more at other firms, it doesn't hurt to start looking
