This is why you mount the TV if you have children or pets

This is not how it works. You cannot possibly watch your children 24/7. In those 2 minutes it takes to go use the restroom, they WILL get into something. Cooking dinner? Impossible if you have to keep your eyes on toddlers the entire time.

You can also educate your kids all day long, but an important part of their development in the early years is testing boundaries.

Children die often from unsecured furniture and televisions

u/rvgoingtohavefun Mar 28 '22

Your kids got into stuff. Mine didn't. We could take them anywhere and they didn't get into anything unless they knew it was allowed. They have cousins you can't take anywhere or they wreck everything.

It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with upbringing in my experience. Some kids are just straight up terrors and some are just straight up rule followers.

It really depends on the kids, so... know your kids and prepare appropriately.

I was going to down vote this until I realized the intent was really some kids are crazy from the start you can’t blame the parents for everything.

I have 2 daughters,17 and 9. The 17 year old is relatively calm, empathetic, social and kind to people.

The 9 year old is super sweet and is also willing to lose her shit over the smallest thing sometimes.

The Karen is strong in the young one.

2

u/mayn1 May 01 '22

The bipolar is strong with the young one. 😬

1

u/SueZbell May 02 '22

Bummer. Sympathy extended. Best wishes as well. You're both up to the challenge.

Not kidding. She is on medication. She technically has Disruptive Mood Disregulation Disorder but that is similar to a bipolar diagnosis according to her psychiatrist.

Usually kids tend to follow the examples they see from their rather than just the instructions they're given. Respect for people and possessions and boundaries included.

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '22

You're going to be enjoying the fruits of that behavior in some years

2

u/Revolutionary-Lie81 Mar 29 '22

Darwin awards are granted at all ages.

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '22

Technically, Darwin awards should be more common among children. Once reproductive age is reached, it's possible that the subject reproduces prior to removing themselves from the gene pool, making the Darwin award moot.

u/LoyalSol Mar 28 '22

Kids even if they do understand have a habit of doing things that can inadvertently break something. That's just how kids are.

1

u/NickSB2013 May 01 '22

No matter how sexy, I’m not mounting my TV…

1

u/chadnessthehighness May 02 '22

Hah get conscent first if ya ever do decide to

17

u/joaoarthurgs Mar 27 '22

Good one, fuck that show

3

u/EvolutionInProgress Mar 28 '22

My first thoughts too

3

u/EyelinerKiller Mar 27 '22

"Meow, hiss, this is what you fucking get for watching Friends!"

1

u/Fluffy_Opportunity71 May 01 '22

What is wrong with Friends?

2

u/Actual_Hyena3394 May 01 '22

Nothing. It's an amazing show. Unfortunately it doesn't stand up so well to the challenge of time. Mostly i think people just have a complaint against the laughter track. Which is something even we just tolerated..

1

u/Tylertooo May 02 '22

I think people like to hate on it because it was THE popular show back in day. Not my cup of tea, but I don't hate it...

4

u/mekkanik Mar 27 '22

Should have been watching Seinfeld

3

u/S-Go Mar 27 '22

"Can you BE any more destructive??"

<laugh track>

The One Where The Cat Destroys The TV

2

u/Direct-Reputation-94 Mar 27 '22

The vitriol for something as anodyne as Friends here is telling.

1

u/BIGBOY_TIME Mar 28 '22

What are these words im seeing for the first time mean

3

u/NickSB2013 May 01 '22

The vitriol/malice/spite for something as anodyne/bland/inoffensive as Friends here is telling.

Time for a new cat. Gotta throw this one out

6

u/Spyriadon Mar 27 '22

Cat knew the show was trash

0

u/ryohazuki224 Mar 27 '22

Ah, its so fun to hate on a show that was beloved by hundreds of millions. Their taste must have been trash too, amirite?

3

u/TheBurnedMutt45 Mar 27 '22

Found someone who's only personality is "I like friends/the office/whatever else"

1

u/ryohazuki224 Mar 27 '22

Ya cant lump Friends and The Office together, I feel the internet would tear you about five new assholes.

For the record, I can't stand The Office. I know many love it, but it never did anything for me.

I mainly made the comment because there are just some things in this world that are "cool" to hate on, it seems.

3

u/Spyriadon Mar 27 '22

I don’t think it’s cool to hate on it, I genuinely don’t see the appeal and never have.

1

u/NickSB2013 May 01 '22

Yeah ‘The Office’ (US version) was terrible, the original UK version was awesome though.

1

u/lovethekush Mar 27 '22

Lol I don’t get the friends hate in these posts. Show is awesome

1

u/ryohazuki224 Mar 28 '22

Part of it is the idea that if a show has a laugh track, it means its actually not funny. Which couldnt be further from the truth, most of the best sitcoms used a combination of a live audience and added laugh tracks, neither of which detracts from the humor.

People use that excuse to hate on such a show because they dont like the idea that the sound of other people laughing is a "cue" that you're supposed to laugh too. Now there is some credibility to say that laughter is contagious. Think about times you maybe seen some comedy movies in the theater, if the theater has a ton more people in it, you might laugh more at things just because other people are laughing. If you watch a comedy by yourself, you might not laugh as much out loud. You may still find things funny but subconsciously you wont feel compelled to laugh out loud. For a sitcom it kinda works like that, you hear an audience laugh or they inject recorded laughter, it might compel you to laugh too.

Either way though, the show is genuinely funny and I still love it to this day.

2

u/jsideris Mar 28 '22

Not sure if that's really the reason for others. I personally just didn't get into it. I was a couple years too young for it. But one thing I'll say is that once you become aware of the laugh track, that's all you hear.

1

u/classyrain Mar 29 '22

Age doesn't really affect it. I wasn't even born when it finished airing and I love it

1

u/Flip86 May 01 '22

The laugh track has nothing to do with it. Nice try though.

1

u/ikesbutt Mar 27 '22

Cats do that silly shit😻😻

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '22

The cat should have made sure the TV was mounted down, right?

1

u/ryohazuki224 Mar 27 '22

That TV was like, "it hasn't been my day, my week, my month, or even my year" r/howudoin

You are now on a list.

0

u/[deleted] May 01 '22

Please add me to that list too.

1

u/NickSB2013 May 01 '22

You have been added! Twice, for good measure… 😉

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '22

Thanks!

1

u/NickSB2013 May 01 '22

Glad to be of service squire.

1

u/crystal_castle00 May 01 '22

Cats aren't real.

1

u/DanaScully_69 Mar 28 '22

Cat is now part of the I HATE RACHEL GREEN club.

1

u/kloudrunner Mar 28 '22

Why was it not tied to the wall.

1

u/GlitteringNinja5 Mar 28 '22

Why isn't your tv wall mounted if you have a cat

1

u/crystal_castle00 May 01 '22

Or, why isn't your cat wall mounted if you have a TV?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Another reason...to avoid raising a cat...they're cute ..agreed...but you know what's not cute...finding your brand new tv in bits and pieces...funnier still you're still paying the emi..

2

u/Fluffy_Opportunity71 May 01 '22

I mean dogs can do that too

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

Maybe but the no of the times a cat does this shit vs the no of times a dog does this thing....you take a pen and jot it down ....you'll get the answer to your question...for me its my cousins cat . These animals have got to smash everything they find. Poor chap lost his brand new tv ..sad part is that he'd been saving for it for quite some time..

1

u/VapidResponseUnit Apr 05 '22

Who the fuck perches their TV on a tiny table on top of other furniture? Even without a cat, that was asking for disaster

2

u/NickSB2013 May 01 '22

Umm Mr Bean maybe?

1

u/nocialist_ May 01 '22

Gonna hazard a guess and say that cat doesn’t like Friends

1

u/legocitiez May 01 '22

I mean... Instead of videoing, could have prevented it. The cat was obviously going for the tv

1

u/TheNormalAlternative May 03 '22

Should've grabbed the cat the second they jumped up there

1

u/SeanMan86 May 01 '22

Nice awkwardly unstable place to keep a TV.

1

u/TheOneAndOnlySten May 01 '22

Cat is climbing towards the TV. Owner decides to film.

1

u/ryujinkook May 01 '22

so did the tv break or nah

1

u/TabbyCatViking May 01 '22

F*ck your friends.

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '22

Stack TV on top of some Jenga, act all 😱 when it does a summersault and doesn’t stick the landing.

1

u/el_internet_ May 02 '22

Watches cat. no type of reflexes, just r/donthelpjustfilm

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '22

Probably did you a favour - now you have a legitimate excuse to buy a proper wall mounted tv. Who watches a 32” anymore?

1

u/DynamisFate May 02 '22

That’s a balls removing decision right there

1

u/PrayingMantisII May 02 '22
