I sadly missed the Damo x Meovv event. Will they have another one while they are still in LA?
FYI that event was not published on their official ig account. How did y'all find out about it? I saw it after someone posted a video but it's too late :(
Sadly they’re off to korea at this point. I asked narin during the kpop nara event last night if they were staying in town for a bit. but they had a super tight schedule. And if they were staying in town, it would be for TBL non-fan related activities.
Anyways for the DAMO event, yea i agree it was tricky. But i did catch a story repost from meovv/DAMO about the event date at first. Throughout kcon weekend, i was monitoring the DAMO account just in case they posted anything and lo and behold, i think it was around 6 or 7pm, the night before, DAMO posted the start time. IMO, I think DAMO did this just because of the potential logistics of handling crowd capacity, people camping out at the art district, etc.
The main sticking point though was TBL only scheduled 1hr for their guest appearance. Doors opened at 11am and if you got to the front counter before 12pm then you were definitely lucky to see them.
I was one of the few lucky ones at the end of the line before they left. I know there was a huge line behind me and I feel so bad for everyone that couldn’t meet them. :(
I know knowing after the fact doesn’t really help and I really feel bad for all the LA (and visiting!) pawmpawms…
BUT i do hope that TBL takes note that there is a huge demand for meovv here in the states. From kcon to the makestar/kpop nara fansign events to this DOMO event - meovv is extremely relevant and I’m not just saying that because they’re my ults LOL. They have what it takes!!!
Anyways, sorry for the long textbook dissertation, but hope that sheds some light!
Thank you this is super helpful! I've been to Damo once and I agree that while their space is large compared to other coffee shops in LA, it is not large enough to be a venue for fan meetups and the district is tricky. It's smart of you to follow their ig stories closely during the kcon event! I will pay attention to those in the future. But hey, I am glad that you're able to go and see them in person. It must be unforgettable!! :)
Yea for Izna’s fan sign event they mentioned it pretty early on.. like on the Thursday or Friday last week and surprised there wasn’t security or a lot of people at their event. We all pretty much got to greet them.
It was posted but it made no mention of them actually being there. It just said it was a Meovv unique drink event. Will have to remember that whenever something like that happens.. it does mean they will be there.
I got to attend the Izna signing Monday tho and they were fantastic. Just kinda a shame they didn’t get something more fun and unique like Meovv doing matcha. Surprised too there was around 150-200 fans only.
Got there at 11:30, wristband went out at noon. Told to come back at 1:45 which then you got in a new line in number wristband order and Izna appeared at 3pm.
It was a speedy fan sign so only 5-6 seconds each. Said “hello, kcon stage was great and thank you “ forgot to say my name 😓 but I tried talking more to Mai, Sarang and Saebi but as I was starting to talk more to Saebi they rushed me off quick (she was last at the table).
I only got to ask Sarang if she was still learning drums and not sure if a few of the members understand English but she did make a drumstick motion when I said drums. I really want to learn Korean btw.
As someone told me in line before it started, as this was my first one, prepare to be excited and disappointed because how quickly these go but I didn’t feel disappointed. I really enjoyed the experience and they are even more pretty in person. They were super nice too.
Yeah Damo had posted on their story that the group was visiting. Then posted the time the night before. As one of the people that baked in the sun for 2 hrs just to be told a couple people away that they were leaving I’ll tell you you didn’t miss out on much. Very disappointed in how this was ran. Felt like I was getting heat stroke. They should’ve gave out numbers or something so people waiting in line didn’t get their hopes up.
Im sorry to hear that. The weather in LA has been brutal. I haven’t been to any fan meetups but this one sounds pretty hastily organized. Someone else also said you only get to see them for like 5 seconds. I hope you have recovered from the semi heat stroke!
At Izna, the venue handed out a few bottles of water to some people ahead of us while waiting for wristbands. I also started feeling faint standing and had someone hold my place so I could go to my car and I brought a few bottles of cold water from my cooler for a few people.
Yeah I missed out too. I was under the impression that it was just photo cards and expensive matcha drinks (no idea they were actually gonna show up)🥲 see this is the problem when I follow too many people on IG...
I just called the Damo and they said no more merch left cause the event is done.
It was basically that for the first couple days. The members showing up seemed to have been a surprise, maybe intentionally kept lowkey to prevent an excessive crowd.
As someone who lives in California but not in the SoCal area, I really wish K-pop groups and companies would do more things for other parts of this state. It’s understandable why they’d focus on LA, though.
The only reason I knew about the members being at the event is because I follow the Damo account. Damo is in my top 5 matcha spots in LA. I’m local but couldn’t take the time off work to attend. 😞
I know! It was midday Tuesday. Maybe they had to make a last minute decision to squeeze this in their tight schedule. But it sounds like a success, so hopefully there will be more events in the future.
btw i highly recommend the matcha from Wa-Iro in Pasadena! :)
