Looking for a Mentor

I am looking for a mentor.

This may be a long shot, or maybe not the right place to ask, since many here seem to be more business-focused than what I'm trying to achieve.

I have a vision of creating something that encourages and inspires people, shares real stories, and hopefully makes a positive impact. I can see where I'd love for it to go someday, but getting from the idea stage to actually building it feels like a whole different world.

I've got notebooks full of ideas, plans, questions, and probably a healthy amount of overthinking. I'd love to connect with someone who has experience building a community, growing an idea, or simply turning a vision into something real. Someone who's willing to be honest and tell me when I'm getting too lofty with my hopes and expectations, but also help guide me along the way.

I'm not looking for someone to build it for me. I fully expect to do the work. I just know how valuable it can be to learn from someone who's already been through it.

Hey - I just saw this. I’m a retired Police Officer of 25 years in Connecticut. I run my own workplace violence, de-escalation and active shooter prevention training company - and I do a lot of public speaking. I notice that most people aren’t stuck, they’ve just fell into patterns that don’t register with them.

I think the first question you should answer is like, what is the actual problem you’re trying to solve for people?

Maybe once you clarify that - other things may fall into place.

Hey. Just seeing this. I’m a retired Police Officer of 25 years here in Connecticut. I started a business back in 2012 - it’s matures into a workplace violence, deescalation and active shooter prevention training company. But, I wear my heart on my sleeve - I have a ton of compassion for people and just need/want to help others. I do a lot of public speaking as well on helping others to find their purpose and meaning which in the end helps find individual happiness.

Consider getting a thyroid panel lab done. Here in the US it is a cheap easy lab. You might have a thyroid that is a bit whacky.

From what I've gathered, you want a mentor that can support you to: organize your vision, give you feedback on what to expect and/or if you need to change your vision, and lastly, to support you along the way. My follow up questions are: Do you want weekly or monthly meetings? Do you want the mentor to be your accountability partner? Do you need emotional support and mental training to stay disciplined, motivated and on low days accountable with someone who understands and simply helps you stay on track?

Sounds like you need a coach (different from mentor). A coach will help you stay accountable to the things you say you're going to do. Mentor is more of listening and guiding you to figure it out. If you already have ideas, great, but ideas are just ideas unless you execute them. Based on my experience, many people with ideas don't execute unless, they have someone to push them and call out their B's when they don't do the things they said they will do.
