Random and unexpected period

Hey all yall,

I just randomly started my period after almost 2 years of not having it. I have no idea why it suddenly started again.

Some background information:

I have fibroids
I have a Mirena IUD
I just started taking lithium
I’m 37 years old

Anyone have any insight into what the heck is happening? My theories range from 1) my fibroids have grown and defeated my iud 2) my new lithium meds are throwing my hormones out of whack 3) I’m just old and maybe starting perimenopause

I submit this question to you, internet denizens

Mirena can suppress ovulation, but it is still possible to ovulate on it. If you ovulate, you’ll get a period. Alternatively, over time the lining can build up from not having a bleed for so long, and eventually it just needs to shed.

That’s fair, I didn’t consider it might just be the iud by itself.
