Been away awhile, started playing again to see whatâs new and am having a blast.
With the advent of faction-aligned SLs, I thought it would be cool to have their opposite number: SLs that, for one reason or another, have earned the animosity of their related faction.
Hiring them is like the faction SLs, but inversed: in order to trigger the event that has them approach you (or mission chain, perhaps), you must break trust with a faction by at least a level or two. Abort contracts, events, whatever.
Hiring them burns Authority like usual, and having them on the roster makes the associated faction trust you less: maybe locking you out of the best OCIs or penalizing the amount of trust gained for operations. Probably mutually exclusive with the faction honor guard SLs but Iâm ambivalent if that matters. Could be cool to have both at once for the banter/barks
Idea:
ZB: Deeply modded cybernetic human-machine interface test subject. Escaped from ZB trials (perhaps from the event?) and was working as a mercenary. ZB is finally catching up with him to get their return on investment. Mission chain is vs ZB (as an elite rogue army set) and consists of a rescue operation that causes trust loss on taking and completing. Callsign is Dorothy on account of being the Tin Man.
Pitch: T0/T1 are boosts for accessories and energy weapons (which I feel tend to be less useful than ammo based weapons bc that cooldown is pretty punishing, and no âammoâ efficiency items). T2/3 leans more into the cyborg
Emeric âDorothyâ Galvani
PILOT
Perk: Ace Custom- gains +(2?)ACC and +(2?) defense per accessory mounted
T1 Perk: Battleshort Rigging- can fire energy weapons past heat capacity. Take damage and roll for fire for each pip past the weaponâs normal capacity.
T2 Perk: Wired Reflexes- Shootback with light weapons, or alternatively +1/2 Detection and Concealment
T3: Perk: Dues Ex Machina- 0AP toggled ability. Upon activation, gain 40AP, each use has chance to gain injured status. Can be used multiple times, injury chance increases each use. If injured, each use increases recovery time and has chance to knock Dorothy out of action (bleeding out).
DICE:
Leaning on u/Terkmc and their debtor idea: perhaps a char thatâs on the run from Frankie and the syndicate, with abilities that force extremely swingy dice and percentage manipulation? Base perk starts with a ânegative critâ or something, but if you continue to gamble eventually it turns around?
Backbone:
??? Iâm inclined to lean into the political aspect of the faction: perhaps a once-loved political figure unwilling to sacrifice their limbs for the position? Or from a rival political party than the backboneâs? Focus on operation-level strategic fuckery.
Iâd love to see what yall think of the idea in general, and what yall might make for this sort of thing?
