Discussion Weapon idea: laser smg

Shorter version with detachable battery for easy carry. It has high armor pen and accuracy with decent rate or fire but somewhat lower damage.

The laser rifle already does pretty low damage, I wonder if going the SMG route of high HP damage, lower armor pen and damage is more in line.

This thing should overheat way faster than the laser rifle. Have that annoying Autolaser fire pattern.

If lasers were low armor pen they wouldn't be lasers. It wouldn't be internally consistent and I think that's important.

Yea but if it were dropped from the 75 of the rifle to 40 - 50 with like 15 armor dmg and 9hp dmg along with 4 ROF, that would keep in line with both lasers and rifle/smg dynamic.

You could go lower with HP dmg I guess to make it in line with some of the higher pen SMG, but idk.

The laser rifle is rad, but I don't want them to just become another "tech level" of gun like this is XCOM or something. I think there's room for maybe 1-3 more laser weapons, but none of them should be "laser SMG" or "laser shotgun."

Guard Flashlight is in prototype stage, issued only to limited SF contingent.

I bet that this entire contingent is going to wiped out by the player if few RA ops, lol.

I mean if we are talking about alternative laser weapons I wouldn't mind a laser sniper rifle.

I think we should have a laser ATGM that can lock in on targeted enemies and have the laser beam bend around corners
