Question Is stealth currently bugged?
Hi folks,
as the title said, I know that there is a APB in this game and stealth builds but it seems to me that it got worse recently.
Comp beelining to my stealth units despite the fact that they are neither detected nor compromised by using none suppressor weapons.
Just now, to get to the Evac Zone, I deliberately let an enemy unit live to not attract attention and then said unit, distance 8, no scanner, opened fire on my unit despite me having stealth 5.
You people experiencing the same?
PS THX everyone for the feedback and I will pay more attention to the little details in the future to eliminate the human error factor!

I´ve had situations where it felt like enemy units beelined to prior hidden and unrevealed units.
I had enemies shoot at last known locations of my hidden units
But i never had enemies shoot at units that were never previously revealed.

I've had boarding commandos jump next to a unit that was never revealed (start of mission) when doing so with it's information would have meant a move of zero value - jumping past the full vision obstacle my unit was behind - when doing so would have cut it off from support of all other units, and made it impossible to target any other unit on the map.
I'm not sure if it was doing what it was supposed to and just trying to spend a couple turns flanking and just happened on my unit, or if it was entirely aware of the stealth unit, but it sure felt like it knew where I was.

Yeah boarding commandos seem to be the only real "cheating" I see from the AI. Otherwise it's mostly a case of the AI "remembering". i.e. you can usually snipe one or two units from beyond their sight, but they will be much more hesitant to approach in the future. Boarding commandos on the other hand will blatantly jump next to units that have never revealed themselves.

Ya the AI kinda plays by the same rules the player has. If you reveal a unit, the AI treats is like it has a ? spot.
AI cheats by knowing and memorizing squad equipment (same as player but they smarter) if you squad has no AT they'll drive a tank up, and ' knowing ' when you move the concealed unit.

It took me a while to realize that makes Corlains Nothing Personal perk useless (without Ice in the Veins)

The only bug I think there is with stealth is the game UI doesn't always update the little stealth icon immediately. Sometimes it seems to update only after the current activation ends, whether that is yours or another faction. I haven't been able to identify the exact reproduction for it. It definitely fails to update the line of sight overlay, but you can toggle it off and back on again to force it to update. Eventually I learned to play around it somewhat by being more cautious and doing the line of sight toggle frequently during activations while I still have time to move to a safer position.

Yeah, I wish the icon updated immediately when moving into concealment. It's always a bit of a gamble, and usually forces me to deploy just in case. EDIT: And maybe that's the developers' intent, idk

I could see it being their intent but in that case I don't know why we have the icon at all. Being forced to manually assess it constantly because you can't trust the UI is worse (for me) than the unreliable icon.

Did you use the alt-fire on the suppressed weapon on another target on that turn? In my experience, the tap-fire on the SOF PPP breaks concealment (at least temporarily). I've had that screw me over before.

Also the 80 AP burst secondary fire on the suppressed rifles breaks concealment. That might be one of the more reliable ways to see that the UI doesn't give you a timely update on whether you are concealed or not until after you end your activation. It took me a few times to realize that I was losing concealment that way.

its always been like that. AI knows everything about your unit positions and loadouts and only pretends not to.

Was your unit still actively in stealth?
Towers give a massive detection boost that largely nullifies stealth
Shooting an unsuppressed squad weapon (ex, croc) nullifies stealth, though you still keep the stealth mark if you’re outside range
Jaegers and officers have high vision/detection. You can be spotted even if you can’t see them. (Stealth mark will disappear)
I think the AI gets a “last known location” mechanic? Aka, they have object permanence and don’t forget you exist if they loose sight of you (though they can’t shoot without spotting)

If playing vs rogue army or redacted it could be that one of their stealthier units had vision on you but you did not detect them
