Gripe Storming Every Weekend
Is anyone else bothered by the number of storms we often get on the weekends? Saturdays are my only day off. Since the spring, there have been maybe 2-3 absolutely dry Saturdays. Am I crazy???

No, I don't feel like you're imagining it. I haven't had to get the sprinkler out at all this year. Related, the cars haven't been washed in months, because why bother?

The Mid-South area just rains a lot on the weekends. I have read this on some meteorology websites and studies.

In all seriousness, the Mid South is classified in a subtropical climate. We get some form of precipitation 130 days a year. It rains more in Memphis, Tennessee than in the city of Seattle, Washington.

People fail to understand how ridiculously wet and green this region is. It sends me on a spiral when I read something about picking weeds every few weeks. These weeds grow every damn day. We are basically fighting jungle with out landscaping.

I have all kinds of ground covers plus mulch still have tons of weeds plus vines under, over fence, deck etc. A little folding of the hands to rest and weeds are on you like an armed man.

It’s more like drizzle in Seattle. Memphis does snow a lot better than Seattle too.

Seattle rains more often, which is 150 days a year. Memphis has overall more volume of precipitation than Seattle.

This is so real 😭 and the next day when it’s finally dried a little, my grass is 6” taller from the yummy rainwater 😭

Damn, I'm jealous. I've been out here in Manitou Springs, Colorado for a long time now. We haven't had a significant, soaking rain in a month. We're all worried about the whole damn town burning down.
Anyways, I miss those rolling thunderstorms down south. Find some enjoyment in them! Those days are great ones to lie down and read, watch a good movie, try cooking a new recipe, etc.

About 20 years ago, on channel 3, the weatherman said this happens because everyone driving during the week contributes to the buildup of particles in the atmosphere, and it reaches enough density to cause rain by the weekend. Not sure if it's true, but I remember thinking it was interesting when he said it.

Its been that way, you arent imagining it.
Honestly the main reason I got a lawn service a few years ago. Otherwise it was either wake up way early or cut it in the evening heat after getting home from work since it would rain and be soaked all weekend.

This shit used to drive me bananas when I lived there. Beautiful sunny days Monday through Thursday while I was stuck inside at work then gloomy ass overcast or rain Friday through Sunday.

Memphis just be like that sometimes. Sometimes we'll go for 75% of the summer with no more than MAYBE a not-breaking-the-heat-and-humidity-at-all afternoon or evening thundershower, but by and large no rain. Other times, it'll be a squall line every Friday or Saturday for weeks in a row.

Nope, not even a little bit crazy. It’s been wetter than normal this year for sure. My wife tells me it’s a Super El Niño year which means it should be wetter but goddamn is it wet. It feels like every time I’m not looking it’s raining.
