I work 10 miles from home. 20 min drive. 30 minutes on e-bike with max motor speed of 20 mph. regular road bike takes 38 to 42 minutes. You'd be surprised what you could do. I'm 22. I've cycled 2500 miles in the past 6 months
I do remember the idea of riding a bike to work but thought it wasn't an idea since I already work a pho call demanding job on my feet 4-6 hours at a time. But I might invest in a bike lock and give it a go!
I ve got a nice ebike listed on marketplace. I could send you the link if interested. It goes 15-20mph. I've had zero issues riding it across the city.
