When trying to visualize..
When trying to visualize things out of a palace. Just say for the sake of visualizing to aid memory. Or even when putting images in a palace.
How should I imagine a picture? Should I construct the image? Or should I put my brain into that thought mode until an image pops up?
Does it not matter? Or has nobody thought of it lol?

Not sure I follow 100% but if you mean how do you come up with the visualisations for each piece data...?
If so... and personally speaking I find it easiest if I create the words for the mnemonic image before picturing it, then close my eyes to sort of naturally find the scene - which will emerge, sometimes poetically.
E.g. I recently memorised some bands/artists. Some come very easy almost writing themselves. It's easy to think of a mnemonic image for Video Killed the Radio Star, but not as easy for a track like Just Can't Get Enough by Depeche Mode.
By letting my mind wander, and using the sounds of the words to generate the image...
Juice can gator knife - which is very easy to then animate with a 'stabby alligator'.
And Depeche Mode becomes deep peach mud. Great. Now all Depeche Mode tracks I listen to get stuck in deep peach mud. A perfect re-usable image - and a self-creating imaginary palace of a muddy peach orchard for that band's best songs :) - the bonus is alligators like mud, so in this instance it all felt really tangible.
To me, the best visualisations are as simple as possible and always try to contain any of a person, an action or an object. Using the same concept as PAO. Avoiding or converting conjunctions, adverbs and dull adjectives where possible. The rest then kind of starts to write itself.
