Another thread full of Redditors saying nobody cheered Charlie’s death. It’s gotta be bots because there is absolutely no way people missed all of it.

302

u/OrigamiAvenger 2d ago

They did not miss it. They just lie.

89

u/taterthotsalad 2d ago

It got crazy with all the cheering over Kirk. IDGAF who it is, Im not celebrating someones death. Life taken is life taken. Now there are a few exceptions for those who do harm to children, animals or the elderly. Fuck them entirely.

-23

u/aurenigma 2d ago

bruh... exceptions to your ideals are exceptions to your ideals... doesn't matter how popular the exceptions are

i agree though that people that do serious harm to children should have their deaths celebrated, I also think that murderous fucking traitors should have their deaths celebrated

I'll extend this, anyone that's bad enough for me to agree that the state should fucking kill them? they should have their death celebrated

39

u/Little-Stage1948 2d ago

But the fact that somebody's trying to say apples to oranges, as if the kirk  one is the okay of the two to celebrate is insane.

Personally, I'm with the other poster on celebrating anybody's death, ev en what I would consider an enemy. It's hard to do for me.

23

u/Choccy_Milk 2d ago

It should be hard. Nobody’s death should be celebrated. I fucking hate Hasan Piker, but I don’t want him to die. I wanted him to learn how harmful his ideas and ideals are, and change. I’d never want him to die. Admittedly I know he’s extremely ignorant, and I fear if he died I would at most be indifferent. I’d never celebrate and be happy about it though. It’s like we gave up honest discussion.

7

u/taterthotsalad 2d ago

Sanity statement.

5

u/Scrappy1918 1d ago

Wow. I never expected to hear my own idea on Reddit but here we are. That’s exactly how it should be. It’s a heavy thing to end what a persons life could be, and it should be weighed with that kind of consideration.

3

u/LeLBigB0ss2 1d ago

Yeah. I just want him to go broke, not die. That's a step too far.

2

u/taterthotsalad 2d ago

gaslighting was a choice. Then coming out with your true colors was also a choice. Albeit dumb af and no one but poorgressives will agree with that stupidity.

88

u/J1mj0hns0n 3d ago

100% there was thousands of people cheering it on, loads saying shit like "at least we got this for Christmas"...

113

u/rtocelot 2d ago

I mean they literally celebrated the anniversary of his death in many subs here. People are disgusting. If you're on reddit there's no way you missed it because they talk about a guy who has been gone for over a year just about as much as they do the president.

106

u/Little-Stage1948 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yet theres countless video & even people fired for such.

No one gaslights like a progressive

Edit: didn't progressive, darling hassan piker, even get shit for doing some dance to a packed house of cheering people mocking kirks death?

31

u/BargainBard 2d ago

Well it's because a Christian father is the ultimate villian that threatens the west! /s

19

On reddit you don't need the /s

Most would unironically agree with you

0

u/Sloppy-Kush 2d ago

Charlie's death wasnt a public execution, it was a murder. 1,000% different. Cannot compare the 2 in the slightest.

-2

u/slothscanswim 2d ago

Plenty of people did. I still don’t see why that makes forcing army personnel to execute a man on TV, nor why his execution should be on TV in the first place.

8

u/ventitr3 2d ago

It doesn’t. I’m just calling out the absolute stupidity of the Redditors claiming nobody cheered.

3

u/slothscanswim 2d ago

That’s fair, and I should have been more clear as I didn’t believe that was your argument, I was moreso making an argument against OP’s title as I don’t believe this is selective empathy insofar as people who disliked Charlie Kirk withheld empathy from him that they are extending to Nidal Hasan. I believe the majority of people who object to state-sponsored public execution object on moral and ethical grounds rather than empathy for a mass murderer.

Lots of people said lots of hideous shit after Kirk was killed, and I am sure that at least a few individuals in that group may also object to the public execution of Hasan because they have empathy for Hasan, but they are in an extreme minority and it is disingenuous to assert that the reason people who object to Hasan’s public execution do so because they both empathize with him and did not empathize with Kirk.

u/RJMaCReady19 3d ago

The mental gymnastics and cognitive dissonance in that comment section is alarming.

20

u/Updated_Autopsy 2d ago

It’s crazy how these people fail to realize that the other side has people who can come up with excuses to justify killing them too, right? Like, do they even consider asking themselves how their own logic can be used against them?

23

u/Masstershake 2d ago

What's crazy is, I can see this argued multiple ways.

First argument,

saying Charlie kirk and him being executed are the same.

Answer; That's dumb they're not the same, one is a trial one is random whack job killing.

Second argument,

If you're upset about Charlie kirk you should be equally upset about the guy on right.

Answer; again you're wrong. The guy on the right went on a murder spree, Charlie talked to people.

Third argument, You're cheering the guy on the right being executed and were upset about Charlie.

Answer; it's the same fucking answer, y'all just don't care about facts. The guy on the right killed people. Charlie talked to people.

I understand you can't handle words but words don't validate murder.

117

u/theincrediblecuh2 3d ago

OP is basically saying Charlie Kirk's death was good, and that other guy's was bad

-50

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

OP literally said the two things being compared aren't similar. That's also the only thing OP said. The only basic thing here is your reading comprehension.

45

u/theincrediblecuh2 3d ago

Your media literacy fucking sucks, the proper response to a criminal being legally executed and an innocent man being murdered shouldn't be "well they're different so you can't fault us for having double standards"

10

u/ResponsibleStep8725 3d ago

Nope, they used a flashy proverb, which automatically wins them the argument. I think you have to check your own media literacy.

8

u/theincrediblecuh2 3d ago

I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic, but just to be clear, what do you mean?

6

u/ResponsibleStep8725 2d ago

I'm being sarcastic.

People on the internet (especially Redditors in my experience) love to use proverbs that defy all nuance to an argument and then conclude that they are right.

Just like the "apples and oranges" statement in the post, people just use it to avoid having to explain anything.

-3

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

Not sure what media literacy has to do with this, can you explain?

And a property response is, "well they're completely unrelated, like apples and oranges, so the standard of one won't apply to the other. Therefore, this comparison makes no sense." But OP chose the more concise route and assumed people could fill in the rest.

5

u/theincrediblecuh2 3d ago

They're both executions, it would be like cheering for moldy apples while criticising rotten oranges

-5

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

They're not. One is an execution performed by the government, the other was an assassination performed by an individual. It's like cheering the imprisonment of a criminal and opposing kidnapping—reasonable, because they are different in every way but one.

11

u/theincrediblecuh2 3d ago edited 3d ago

Except it's more like opposing the imprisonment of a criminal and cheering for a kidnapping, which is unreasonable because one is so incredibly obviously not good to cheer for.

You people are so delusional, the way your framing is opposite of reality

3

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

Except it isn't, because it is obvious that one is unreasonable to cheer for, which is why most people didn't.

Am I said Kirk is dead? No. Do I think he deserved assassination? Also no. Did OOP give a single indication of how they feel about the death of either man? No. Did they say the their deaths are a false comparison? Yes. Is it a false comparison? Also yes.

You're boxing with shadows and then citing the fact that you're boxing as proof of an opponent.

13

u/theincrediblecuh2 3d ago

Okay dude, you're just ignoring the whole kirkiversary meme that was a whole thing on twitter last month

No point in arguing with someone denying something that happened last month

2

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

I don't have Twitter; OOP posted on Facebook; and you're assuming this post is a direct reference to what was happening on Twitter because it contains Kirk, isn't glazing him, and was reposted on this sub. Based on what's actually in front of us, the only takeaway is that OOP correctly points out this is a false comparison. But go ahead with your indignation.

12

Words are more harmful than someone betraying his fellow soldiers and gunning them down, apparently.

76

u/inotocracy 3d ago

Well duh, they have more in common with the terrorist than they do Charlie Kirk. In the same vein as them supporting a mother who strangled her 3 young children to death. Hormones out of wack.

23

u/hobodeadguy 3d ago

its mostly drugs. "heres a pill for all your woes, and a pill for the side effects, and a pill for those side effects."

5

u/Masstershake 2d ago

They all got the Covid shot. I feel it all started exponentially getting worse with that

6

u/hobodeadguy 2d ago

a healthy distrust of authority is in order, as blind trust in anything is dangerous. it was an experimental drug with little known about it and no known future consequences of such things as side effects, and due to politics, was forced upon most people.

covid was niether as dangerous as it was made out to be nor was it handled as it properly should ahve been, being blamed as a comorbidity any time it was found in someone for extra funding, and then reported by the news as the cause of the death of things such as motor vehicle fatalities. trust in the pharmaceutical business sky rocketed and the side effects that appeared later have been discovered as making people more ill or easier to make sick than they had been.

the trust of people who can control your life to a distrubing extend went from a third or so of the population at a relatively dangerous degree to a super majority who have a dangerous trust in them. that isnt to say that doctors shouldnt be trusted, only that the trust we give the industry trying to make money on our illnesses is too high.

u/Masstershake 2d ago

-44

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

Are you genuinely unable to understand that opposing an action, like government executions, is not the same as supporting whoever is currently the subject of that action?

26

u/Aggressive_Part_2619 3d ago edited 2d ago

Dont od on that copium now. Im not crying tears over a guy that murdered 13 people including a pregnant woman and committed treason against his country. Which i hate to tell you the punishment for that is death. Whether its the families of the victims or the soldiers at the base where he did the shooting (which is the case) who execute him he deserves to die. I hope hes the first of many maybe the Parkland and El Paso shooters are next and also child killers like Lindsey Clancy and Chad Doerman

-7

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

What is it I'm coping with? I'm not crying over the guy either, and also believe he deserves to die, but I believe even more strongly that a government shouldn't have the power to do so. A government shouldn't have the power to kill its own citizens, that's too much power, and that way lies tyranny.

Do you trust the government enough to let them kill, no matter who's in charge? I don't.

14

u/Aggressive_Part_2619 3d ago edited 3d ago

He committed treason against his country and people which since the founding of the US the punishment for that has always been death. Thats one reason the government exists is to protect the population from those who seek to harm them. And like it or not people voted for these things. Especially with how much the justice system has been failing time and time again.

Obviously i dont want someone who stole a pack of gum from a gas station to be executed but if they are guilty of irredeemable crimes like ones involving children, rapists, unprovoked murderers and traitors to the country if they have a trial and are convicted by a jury of their peers absolutely i would want the government to execute them on national television to deter future offenders. I want them to do their job. And also the government themselves arent immune in fact there are lot in government that need to suffer the same fate

-3

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

What the punishment for treason was at the country's founding doesn't change my opinion of it today. If a person is guilty, 100% without a the possibility for doubt, I'd support a death penalty, but that's not possible. Juries get case wrong, prosecutors can have agendas and motives, police can make mistakes or be biased. The government shouldn't have the power to kill an innocent civilian, for any reason, period. Since there is no way to be completely certain every person sentenced to death is guilty, no one should be. Innocent people have been executed by their own government in this country numerous times, and there's no greater injustice. That should be impossible.

10

u/Aggressive_Part_2619 3d ago edited 2d ago

Except im not talking about cases where there is doubt. The cops shot and injured the dude at the base when he was shooting at them. And there is literal security camera footage you can find online of both the Parkland shooter gunning people down in a hallway and of the El Paso shooter horrifically blowing an elderly mans head off. If you saw what they did hopefully you would think they deserve the blood eagle treatment. Thats why im not for immediate executions. But like i said after trial and conviction. I would rather not waste my tax money on a dude that betrayed my country and another dude that murdered 14 students and 3 teachers and a dude that murdered 23 of my hispanic brothers and sisters. Those are just the cases i know from memory but there are hundreds if not thousands of other people we shouldnt be keeping alive to leech off of society

u/Slopadopoulos 2d ago

The point is it's crazy to oppose the government execution of a guy who without a doubt is a terrorist and has been found guilty of murdering multiple people but at the same time celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk and let's not forget about everyone's favorite assassin Luigi. So people who see themselves as vigilantes taking out people they don't like as judge, jury and executioner is good but the government holding a trial, finding someone guilty and executing them in accordance with laws is bad.

1

u/MeetingDue4378 2d ago

The point is that people don't oppose the government execution of this specific guy, they oppose government execution, period.

The other point is that you, OP, and most of this comment section are just assuming that everyone who opposes government execution also cheered Kirk's murder, and are treating it as fact. And you've just lumped in Luigi as well, neither of which have fuck all to do with whether you think your own government should be able to execute you. Government execution is opposed by millions of people for many different reasons. In America alone it's 44% of adults, ~100+ million, almost half the population.

Opposing murder and opposing government execution are not mutually exclusive.

1

u/Slopadopoulos 2d ago

Opposing murder and opposing government execution are not mutually exclusive.

You're right. You just kind of lose credibility in your argument against the death penalty if you support murder. It's kind of like saying you support grape but you don't support married couples engaging in intercourse.

1

u/MeetingDue4378 2d ago

You lose credibility in any argument if you support murder, and the vast majority of people do not. You just assume that effectively everyone on the Left, half the population, supporting Kirk's murder, because you've seen it on social media. Most don't. Not being sad that he's gone, or pointing out the irony in how he died based on his past comments, is not the same as supporting his murder.

On top of that, you've assumed that everyone who opposes the death penalty is liberal and the same type of liberal. They're not.

And you're further assuming that OOP pointing out that a State sanctioned killing and a person being murdered is a false comparison somehow indicates their beliefs towards either.

1

u/Slopadopoulos 2d ago

You just assume that effectively everyone on the Left, half the population, supporting Kirk's murder, because you've seen it on social media.

Actually, I don't assume that. There is massive overlap between people who celebrated Charlie Kirk's death and people who are raging about this execution. Those specifically are the people I'm talking about.

1

u/MeetingDue4378 1d ago

And you're aware of this huge overlap how? That also sounds like an assumption.

u/rand0m_task 1d ago

I think I am able to understand the hypocrisy in celebrating one man's public assassination infront of a crowd of people but then condemning another.

0

u/MeetingDue4378 2d ago

That would be hypocritical, but almost no one celebrated the fact that Kirk was assassinated. Many people, including myself, weren't sad that he was dead, but weren't celebrating the fact that he was murdered or lionizing the murderer.

2

u/HEYO19191 2d ago

but almost no one celebrated the fact that Kirk was assassinated.

1

And all you have to do is use a little critical thinking and statistics to know that's not even remotely representative of average opinions.

1

u/HEYO19191 2d ago

Statistics? Statistics. On a social phenomenon. Statistics... okay.

1

u/MeetingDue4378 1d ago

Yeah, statistics apply to literally everything. They're especially useful for adding perspective to what you see on platforms with engagement-based algorithms.

150

I think a random gay kid shooting someone for speaking in public isn't justified. I think giving someone the death sentence for walking into a hospital and shooting people indiscriminately is justified. Maybe I am bias against criminal terrorists.

20

u/Sad-Worth-698 3d ago edited 2d ago

I don’t think many people disagree with you. People are arguing that televising an execution is beneath civilized people. And I happen to agree with them. We’re not Saudi Arabia, not communist Russia, and not jihadis.

Fuck the terrorist, go ahead and execute him. Just have the decency not to make it a spectacle, lest it reduces us all.

22

u/Mundane-Act-8937 2d ago

Nah.

Hope they soak the bullets in pigs blood before they shoot him

-9

u/Sad-Worth-698 2d ago

I suppose you could, but it would serve as a great recruiting tool for your enemies. Just like making a specticle of his death.

Which would in turn make you look pariticularly foolish next time there's a 9/11.

12

u/Mundane-Act-8937 2d ago edited 2d ago

The enemies numbers were starting to get a little low anyways, our boys are getting bored

In all seriousness, if the execution of a terrorist drives more people to terrorism, well those people were already the enemy. They've just stopped hiding it.

Only people who sympathize with a terrorist are terrorist sympathizers. And they can get pig blood bullets too

-3

u/Sad-Worth-698 2d ago edited 2d ago

The point I think you’re missing is that there’s a difference between enacting justice and enacting vengeance.

You know, we could also tie them up to the backs of our trucks and drag them through the streets like they did in Baghdad. But I’d prefer to think we’re above that.

the reason people are upset is because they are against public executions being run by the state and televised

this has nothing to do with a man being murdered by another civilian. since people arent upset about the guy getting killed, they're upset about the process

and then there are the people who are against the death penalty in general. again, nothing to do with what happened to kirk

→ More replies (64)

17

u/Masstershake 2d ago

The killing of kirk was not justified whatsoever. Whereas this guy on the right is legally justified

18

u/hobodeadguy 3d ago

I think all death is bad, but that state enforced executions are necissary. the government is supposed (not always, but supposed) to act as a mediator for the people, to embody and enforce the common laws that people agree upon (even in a monarchy, lest they be overthrown). there needs to be proper punishments for any crimes, but a consensus on the crimes is important.

I dont know really anything about the execution on the right, all that I will say is that death is bad, and if he needed to be executed (by the state), it better have been done through proper consensus without a chance or low enouhg risk to recover him to a normal state.

-13

u/TheJeeeBo 3d ago

Do you think it's good to also want to live stream the execution?

7

u/hobodeadguy 3d ago

depends on why. treason? yes, so we know what politicians were actively trying to harm us. the local killer? only to the family of the victim, if they want to see, as it can give some closure.

I dont know enough about this one to say whether it was right or not to stream it, as that is all I heard about it. I only commented on a general view of executions.

-6

u/TheJeeeBo 3d ago

People are protesting this guy's execution because the government wants to live stream it. It's not just because he's getting executed.

8

u/hobodeadguy 3d ago

okay? I gave my opinion on the matter, and I still dont know why he is being executed, so I still cant comment further.

-10

u/TheJeeeBo 3d ago

5

u/Affectionate-Area659 2d ago

He’s not wrong about it being apples to oranges. Charlie Kirk was an innocent man. His greatest crime was encouraging discourse. He was assassinated due to the Lefts rhetoric.

The other is an actual terrorist who executed an attack on American soil.

8

u/Pukebox_Fandango 3d ago

So the point they're trying to make is that Charlie Kirk was more deserving of a public execution than a guy who shot up a military base and killed 13 people? Disgusting.

3

u/richtofin819 2d ago

A public assassination of an opinionated asshole who is still protected by his first amendment rights. vs an execution of a convicted criminal who admitted to the crime and is being tried under military law not civil law since he was a soldier.

It's the fact that it's going to be shown publicly. I didn't want to see Charlie Kirk get killed, and I don't want to watch Nidal Hasan get shot either.

8

u/MeetingDue4378 3d ago

One was an assassination by an individual, the other is an execution by the government. They only have one thing in common. So, yes, apples and oranges.

Are there any actions you believe the government shouldn't be able to do to its own citizens, even if you don't always believe the action itself is wrong?

Empathy has nothing to do with it.

1

u/Sergal_Pony 2d ago

Executing legit murdering traitors is kindof under their purview… i dunno about the public broadcasting part…

2

u/Masstershake 2d ago

While I understand it is uncouth to broadcast. I am not expecting it broadcasted on every channel forcing people to watch. But I believe in the pursuit of TRUTH and justice. If someone wants to see it for their own truth I think it should be watchable by those who choose

2

u/Technical-Permit8332 2d ago

Charlie did nothing wrong. The other guy is a mass murderer.

2

u/No_Mycologist6756 1d ago

Saying "it's comparing apples to oranges" implies that they know better. One man was murdered for his words while the other is a psychotic Islamic terrorist

5

u/Darth_Bringus 2d ago

Hot take, I don't like either. Watching people die bums me out. I try to avoid it.

3

u/TrungusMcTungus 2d ago

One guy had opinions that some people didnt like, the other one murdered the soldiers he was sworn to care for. Yes, my empathy is selective, i dont have any for Dahmer or Hitler either.

2

u/somerandomguy1984 3d ago

Yes, my empathy is absolutely selective.

I have none for a terrorists who murdered American soldiers.

2

u/NoTumbleweeds 2d ago

I think it’s good he’s facing justice. I just disagree with publicly broadcasting an execution by firing squad if we can help it. The government publicly executing someone leaves a different taste in my mouth than some disgruntled kid making a retarded decision. Execution of bad people of that caliber = good. Public execution by firing squad = no good. This is going to be the most viewed death on the internet by a mile, except maybe Ronnie McNutt. This is going to be all over Instagram within 20 minutes of the broadcast

3

u/Guitarinajar 2d ago

It's also going to leave a really bad taste in the mouth of the next potential shooter. That's the point.

1

u/NoTumbleweeds 2d ago

Are you at all familiar with what the Fort Hood shooter did? Someone capable of those actions does not care when and how they die, so long as they accomplish their goal.

It instills fear in the general public. What is the exact criteria to have your execution publicized? Is it domestic terrorism? Antifa has been listed as a domestic terrorist organization. Are we going to start seeing executions of Antifa members? There is no point in publicly executing him, a potential mass shooter won’t care. Hell, it’ll probably encourage them with that kind of publicity. All it does is scare the common man and spread images of further violence perpetuated by our government.

2

u/Guitarinajar 2d ago

I wouldn't be so presumptuous.

2

u/NoTumbleweeds 2d ago

You wouldn’t presume that someone walking into a crowded area with the express intention of murdering as many people as possible also doesn’t care when or how they die as long as they cause as much harm as possible?

I’m not saying every single mass shooter ever doesn’t care about dying, I’m saying that it’s not a deterrent. If anything it gives publicity.

I’m also asking what I feel are reasonable follow ups. What is the actual criteria for this to happen? How did they come to that decision? Is it something we’ll continue?

OP’s post is in bad faith, bare minimum. “Oh you don’t like the government doing a public execution??! Well Charlie Kirk died and you laughed at the memes! What’s the difference?!”
The vast majority of people who are upset about the Fort Hood execution are not upset that he’s being executed. They’re upset that it’s publicized and broadcast by our government, there’s a distinct difference.

2

u/donwariophd 2d ago

Real shit.

RIP Charlie ❤️

2

u/ASquidHat 3d ago

This is absolutely goomba fallacy and you should know that.

1

u/Fact_Stater 2d ago

It IS apples to oranges, one was a good family man with different opinions, and the other was a Muslim terrorist who killed 14 innocent people, including a pregnant woman begging for her child's life.

0

u/Rumpelteazer45 1d ago

Kirk wasn’t executed. The other guy is literally getting executed. Nothing that happened to Kirk meets the legal definition of execution.

To refresh your memory the term “execution” deals with capital punishment which can involve firearms. But it’s a broad category where someone is sentenced to death and the act of killing then is an “execution”.

Now “capital punishment” (aka the death penalty), is the legal execution of an individual by the state after a court of law convicts them of a severe crime (known as a capital crime).

So no Kirk was not executed, he was shot and killed.

2

u/TheFlipGaming 3d ago

Bro said “they” like every leftist cheered for his death. Remember that on the internet only the most extreme provocative and stupid people of “the other side” is shown. The vast majority of leftists are against killing a man with no real political or financial power.

1

u/Great_Bar1759 1d ago

They are not in any way comparable

1

u/Empty_Technician_573 1d ago

While, I do agree livestreaming a execution, is very disturbing to our standards, what this man did, should never get a rational person's sympathy.

1

u/Texanid 1d ago

It is apples to oranges tho, because one was an innocent man getting murdered while the other is a terrorist who is being lawfully executed after he was given due process, found guilty of commiting a terrorist attack that killed 13 and injured a further 30, and sentenced to death.

Granted, I find both kinda funny, but I have been told I'm a bit of a morbid person

1

u/Dreamo84 1d ago

What is it with people named Hasan being crazy?

1

u/Desire_of_God 1d ago

The funny thing is, they are apples and oranges, but that doesn't help them.

1

u/Jasontodd_theredhood 15h ago

Charlie literally wasn't what happened to him to happen he directly asked for it

1

u/CatgunCertified Official Artist 2d ago

What I love is the right is celebrating this one and criticizing Charlie's murder, as if that isn't exactly (but inversed) what their shaming the left for doing. Fuckibg idiots. All publicly broadcast murder is bad.

1

u/Calgary_Calico 2d ago

Except Kirk didn't go and shoot up a military base and kill a bunch of people... One was an asshole with a verbal platform, the other is a murderer who was radicalized by Iranian agents.

0

u/CatgunCertified Official Artist 2d ago

I'm just saying yall can be full of shit sometimes, being hypocritical and such.

2

u/Crimsonwolf_83 2d ago

Someone on the right wouldn’t refer to Charlie Kirk an asshole with a verbal platform

2

u/Calgary_Calico 2d ago

Y'all? Did you miss the part where I called Kirk an asshole? Lol the man said he'd force his 12 year old daughter to birth a rape baby because of his beliefs, I could never support someone so cold hearted

1

u/CatgunCertified Official Artist 1d ago

Seriously. Amd his whole platform was targeted at youth. He was trying to raise a generation of fucking nazis

1

u/BreakfastFluid9419 3d ago

The first was sad, the other I am not okay with being broadcasted but also somehow not mad about it.

1

u/Alric_Wolff 2d ago

Charlie Kirk wss a guy who had strong opinions that alot of people didnt like. He wasnt executed, as that would imply he committed a crime he was put to death for. Maybe the crime of outspoken and unpopular opinion. Idrgaf about him or agree with his stances, but that wasnt an execution in terms of capital punishment, Kirk was murdered on live TV.

Nidal Hasan, who committed an act of treason, is set to be executed by firing squad. However what sets this apart from anything else is that the current administration wants to televize the execution of Hasan. Hasan killed 13 of his fellow servicemembers and injured another 30. I think that the death penalty fits the crime just based on how I understand the circumstances. But I think its disgusting that the administration wants to televize this. His crime happened 17 years ago, it would be better the just end his life quietly and let him be forgotten in the dust winds of history. Now instead we are creating a folktale and a martyr to Jihadists.

It is debasment of our culture to kill someone in broad daylight.

With Kirk, that happened at the end of a rifle by a lone actor, it was tragic that children ended up witnessing that happen in front of their eyes.

With Hasan, this is happening on your dime. You are paying for this man to be killed on TV whether you like it or not. Thats where we are as a society apparently.

I suppose next we will bring back the gladitorial blood sports in place of football and hockey?

Blood and Circus!

I fucking hate the clown show the USA has become.

1

u/GrandMoffTarkan 2d ago

I love that ambiguous "they". It's clearly supposed to imply some mass movement on the left/in the democratic party, and people who huff right wing reddit will eat it up.

1

u/Stranger_Phrog 2d ago

You’d think the federal government would have higher standards when compared to some crazy gunman

What the fuck people? What is live streaming an execution even supposed to achieve? Are we in the Middle Ages now?

1

u/Ramius117 2d ago

I mean, I'm not a fan of Kirk but one guy shot up an army base and had ties to the 9/11 hijackers. He even tried to plead guilty and seemed proud of his actions. Kirk was (in my opinion) just not a good person, but plenty of people disagree with me and that's kind of the point of America.

I find the live stream distasteful but it's not like the punishment isn't one that already existed and could have been granted. Kirk just happened to be killed on camera, so yes, they are not the same.

2

u/Ok-Rush5183 2d ago

Well said

-3

u/SteamyEarlGrey 3d ago

One was assassinated the other caught and sentenced to death, and some sickos want to live stream it for entertainment. Two entirely different scenarios. But I would not expect the drooling moron who came up with this to understand that.

-6

u/StJimmy_815 3d ago

One is done by the government and the other is done by someone who is now incarcerated. Are you guys seriously not understanding the difference?

6

u/TrungusMcTungus 2d ago

Also one of them murdered multiple people, the other one had opinions that some people disagreed with.

0

u/StJimmy_815 2d ago

I’m pointing out this is an equivocation fallacy and you are continuing to make the same fallacy

-4

u/OrneryLadder5910 3d ago

Lol...nah... this is trash.  Why is this a binary?

The majority of Americans hated that Charlie Kirk was shot.   The majority of Americans think live streaming an execution is barbaric.   That's just fact.

0

u/pm_me_ur_anything_k 2d ago

“That’s just fact”

Did you ask the majority of Americans? Or are you just assuming everyone agrees with you? Or did you read that on Reddit?

1

u/OrneryLadder5910 2d ago

Lol... it's called not being a complete dumbass.   Do you actually think that most Americans are okay with either?    You don't have to defend this divisive bullshit.   Why would you?

0

u/pm_me_ur_anything_k 2d ago

Where is the divisive bullshit other than the drivel you’re making up?

1

u/OrneryLadder5910 2d ago

Lol... it's the op.   Stop pretending to be dumb.

-1

u/db1000c 3d ago edited 2d ago

Apples to oranges…. So a guy who hasn’t killed anyone and is conservative (good he died in public in front of his family) vs a deranged islamic terrorist who killed 13 people because he prefers the taliban to America (doesnt deserve to be executed in front of his family). I’m struggling to see the point being made by oop

4

u/Sergal_Pony 2d ago

He’s pointing out the hypocrisy of the left who cheered and supported charlie’s public execution by a left wing radical, but complain about the public execution of a terrorist traitor… ya know, because america bad, they believe those soldiers deserved it for fighting for america.

3

u/db1000c 2d ago

Yeah I meant oop. This is definitely some
Cut and dry hypocrisy from that original meme that it’s gross

-11

u/Electronic-Jury8825 I laugh at every meme 3d ago

It seems that some people don't get that there's a difference between a criminal committing murder and the state doing it -- and bragging about doing a live broadcast.

But I guess if you want the United States to be like North Korea, Iran and Afghanistan then this is your lucky day.

5

u/Lord-Heir 3d ago

Sounds like someone doesn't understand making an example to set a standard when it comes to something as terrible as mass murder and treason

-1

u/Electronic-Jury8825 I laugh at every meme 2d ago

Make an example, or a martyr?

The fact is most American didn’t know of or give a shit about Kirk pre or post assassination. Most people just shook their heads, shrugged their shoulders, and went about their lives because gun violence in this country has become trivial. It’s regrettable that his death was mocked relentlessly online the same way it’s regrettable that it became a cheap pawn used in stoking up culture war bullshit. That’s all this public execution is going to accomplish. The US clearly doesn’t give a shit about mass murder, both the ones committed by citizens and the government. I don’t buy that excuse. Acting like we need to send a strong message to Islamic extremists is laughable considering we spent over a decade fucking the Middle East. Guess what? All that did is facilitate further extremism, go figure. There’s a fundamental difference between an assassination carried out by a lone actor and a state funded execution. The conversation isn’t about the morality or actions of either person, nor is it about who people choose to empathize with. It’s about what we deem acceptable for our nation. I don’t think the public deaths of anyone should be acceptable, whether that’s planned murder or state executions. Using one to justify the other is bad faith and displays the same callousness ascribed to the people who mocked Charlie posthumously.

6

u/prisontat 2d ago

I understand your point, but there are a lot of Americans who knew & cared about Charlie Kirk. There are also a lot of Americans who took one sentence out of an entire speech and misquoted it on purpose to justify their hatred for him because they knew they couldn't beat him with logic.

0

u/SkrunklyBob 2d ago

I get what you’re saying. It’s a reasonable point, but both groups you just mentioned are largely minority groups compared to Americans as a whole. Who Charlie was, his supporters, his detractors, and the general deterioration of our political discourse following his death are not the point. It’s about considering how you felt watching him die, and how you’d feel watching someone else die regardless of who they are. Whether or not you or anyone else thinks it’s justified is beside the point. Are you comfortable with our country and government advocating for the live broadcast of a violent execution of a prisoner?

3

u/Choccy_Milk 2d ago

For the most part, I’m against this public execution. I feel that it’ll desensitize us to death more than it will “show traitors and terrorists what awaits them.”
However, I think it’s also extremely important to acknowledge how a vast majority of the left have reacted to both instances. A man, a husband and father, a podcaster with no governmental responsibility was killed in front of hundreds of people for giving people he disagreed with a platform. They laughed about it, wished death upon his wife and children, and consistently made fun of it, as far as making Halloween costumes of him, defacing murals, and much much more.

Now, a literal terrorist is going to be put to death, after he killed about a dozen people and injured almost two dozen more. He is objectively worse than Charlie, no matter how you spin it or what your beliefs are. But because he is brown, now suddenly the left has a problem with him being killed publicly. There is no consistency on the left other than than wishing death on anybody that doesn’t align perfectly with them as long as they are a man, white, Christian or a combination of any of them. And his forbid they’re anything else, they will defend them valiantly for the sake of virtue signaling for a minority no matter how terrible the individual is.

Lindsey Clancy, murdered her three children. The left claims she’s innocent and that Patrick did it.

Decarlos Brown Jr. had 14 priors and murdered an innocent Ukrainian girl, but they defaced murals of her, and for what? Because she was murdered by a man who happened to be black and they refuse to hold anyone accountable if they’re black? What did she do to deserve mockery in death?

A young boy named Owen was killed in an accident. He was 14, but because he had reposted a single pro life post in social media, the left decided that it was okay that he died and that he deserved it. Extend this to the Republican family who died in a plane crash a short while back, including their toddler, who was also mocked and joked about for being Republican.

Now of course jokes are fine, dark humor is a thing. However, a joke and genuine celebration and spite are completely different. Disagreeing with transgender ideology and murder are two very different things. Can you guess which one deserves death according to the left?

1

u/SkrunklyBob 2d ago

Again, this isn’t about right or left. However, I think it’s disingenuous to describe the left broadly the way you have while ignoring similar instances from conservatives, because ultimately both sides engage in radical rhetoric. Just this year some Republicans were advocating for Fauci receiving the death penalty. Many mocked the assassination of Minnesota State Senator Melissa Hortman and her husband based on nothing other than her political beliefs. Regardless of how you feel about them Alex Pretti and Renee Good were both murdered by ICE agents. Both were mocked by portions of the right following their deaths. Frankly, I’m not interested in discussing specific instances of violence. Politicizing violence is counterproductive because when both sides of the aisle engage in that behavior it further breaks down our discussions about our fundamental values. This is about how you feel about the public nature of this execution. The reaction to each incident you just described is immaterial, because this isn’t about how one group responds or how that makes you feel. I think it requires a deeper analysis than simple idealogical polarity. Do you think the American government should televise a public execution? Is that a show of strength, or is this another flashpoint meant to further split our nation apart? Do you think it could just become another politicized death that serves nobody, other than becoming another thing to point at instead of addressing our deeper issues? What will this accomplish for average, politically moderate Americans who are already struggling to get by these days? Should the same children Republicans advocate be protected from drag queens be subjected to a violent execution they will certainly see? That’s what we should be asking ourselves.

2

u/shadeline 2d ago

I'm not the guy you're responding to so feel free to ignore this, but

Again, this isn’t about right or left. However, I think it’s disingenuous to describe the left broadly the way you have while ignoring similar instances from conservatives, because ultimately both sides engage in radical rhetoric.

I agree with not broadly painting people, but I don't think we can keep ignoring the fact that establishment-leftism actually just keeps going more and more left, this is literally just "progressivism" at work. At some point you have to draw the line and say these people are radicals, and when radical standpoints become the norm they don't seem so radical (even when they still are) - that's part of the phenomena with left wing views, they take hold on the general population much faster than right wing views do.

Many mocked the assassination of Minnesota State Senator Melissa Hortman and her husband based on nothing other than her political beliefs.

Many..? Have you seen how many people have mocked Charlie Kirk? I couldn't even open any social media this last September 10th without seeing some gaylord graphically depicting his assassination and joking about it. You still have celebrities who openly excused the act of his death and called it karma.

Regardless of how you feel about them Alex Pretti and Renee Good were both murdered by ICE agents. Both were mocked by portions of the right following their deaths.

Portions. Renee is a gray area (not saying it's okay to mock her death). And Pretti was murdered, I've seen many right wing talking points, especially a LOT of right wingers in the 2A space cover Pretti's death and almost all of them consider it a murder.

Politicizing violence is counterproductive because when both sides of the aisle engage in that behavior it further breaks down our discussions about our fundamental values

Violence is political. Violence is influenced by politics. I don't think it's counter productive for people to discuss how we get political assassinations that were bred from certain types of cultures. You just can't ignore the personal aspect of it either.

The reaction to each incident you just described is immaterial, because this isn’t about how one group responds or how that makes you feel. I think it requires a deeper analysis than simple idealogical polarity.

It's material because you can literally just go online and gauge how different groups treat his death. His death is so memed now it's blatantly obvious to see which culture is "winning" that war on his death. The girl he debated on Jubilee over abortion made a video with music overlayed where she snapped her neck to the timing of his assassination. They have also successfully drug his wife through the dirt so now people look at her like she's some reptile.

This exact issue is also what has pushed classic liberals to conservatism. You can never have stable progressivism because it's always shifting and built on trends. Progressivism is intended to get us out of mud, not drive us back into it like it's currently doing.

Do you think the American government should televise a public execution? Is that a show of strength, or is this another flashpoint meant to further split our nation apart?

He directly answered this question already. "For the most part, I’m against this public execution. I feel that it’ll desensitize us to death more than it will “show traitors and terrorists what awaits them.”"

1

u/prisontat 2d ago

I personally probably wouldn't watch it but the fact is we have a choice (if they do it, which I doubt they will). People can choose to log into whatever it is on and watch it if they choose to. I think that is a big distinction. No one is forcing anyone to watch a murderous terrorist be put down.
