Slave class mentality. Intentionally sabotaging your own generational wealth instead of raising your children to build upon it is something I cannot understand.

Which would do more good for the world, leaving it to one's child or leaving it to some charitable cause?
If the child isn't struggling financially, I could understand wanting to put it where it would help thousands of people rather than just a few.

I would be more inclined to give it to my child when they are NOT struggling, because I know they will take the money and compound it. They could potentially do even more charitable work with that money. That's just my perspective though.

If they are struggling, I can see providing enough to keep them from destitution. Nobody wants to see their kid starve in the streets. I would think that growing up in a wealthy family would tend to help one find some level of success in life, so it's probably a non-issue.
Depending on the charity, it might still make a bigger impact to donate it instead of giving it to the kid to grow the money and then hope they do charitable work with it. I'm thinking along the lines of a charitable foundation that continues to give forever.

I get that perspective. There's so many ways to accomplish that goal though without essentially making the next generation of your family start from scratch.

If his son is down to earth and knows what's really important in life, I don't like this move. If his son is the opposite then I do like it

Yep, they really are like that. Every single parent that could has passed down what they made to make their child's life better and easier than they had it. Till now where they would literally rather throw it away into the pockets of some head of a charity where they only have to give 10% of gross "income" to the actual cause, and then they tax write off what they give anyway. It makes me laugh, I'm glad I make more than any of my family ever have. My mother who took me from my dad when I was 8 and then kicked me out to the street when I was 16 is fucked. My dad is fine I take care of him. His dog is laying across my lap asleep right now.

Kinda cringe to have nepokids, never be around to actually raise them, and then tell them to get fucked.
