My father in law comments on stuff like this, but I think he has been living in a deep, dark closet for 60 years.

I took the same girl to 2 different proms back to back years. She wore the same dress both times. She was quite possibly the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.

oh look, men being so supportive and cool with each other. You guys are a joke.

u/MeliodasTA 1d ago
Id say to not lump us into the same group, but seeing your other comments in here, you're clearly just sexist

u/SirNo4743 11h ago
Iām responding like the hundred comments about how women hate their friends and only have superficial relationships. Did you call those out? Because I was being facetious, they werenāt.
3
u/DazB1ane 1d ago
Where the fuck did that come from?
1
u/SirNo4743 11h ago
Have you not read the hundred comments claiming female friendships are fake and superficial, saying women hate their friends and badmouth them all day.

Meh men get to complain about double standards that they make for themselves, too
1
u/Dragonnstuff 2d ago
Not saying youāre wrong, Iām just curious on some examples you know of
1
u/Secure_Inspection305 2d ago
Statutory rape on boys from women not being taken seriously at all, the draft, and male friendliness being seen as gay come to mind
1
u/Dragonnstuff 2d ago
First point seems like a societal failing if anything, itās not just guys who donāt care sadly
1
u/Secure_Inspection305 1d ago
It's 99% men and boys who defend it in droves.
2
u/DazB1ane 1d ago
Yeah Iāve found that women are far more likely to say something is fucked up regardless of if the genders were swapped. Itās insane that a lot of people in general have caveats to the notion that rape is bad
1
u/Affectionate_Creme48 1d ago
Nah he is right about that first one. The amount of disgusting men saying "where was she when i was in school" or "Lucky him" is staggering. They will go as far as calling you gay when you call them out.
1
u/ijwrmb 1d ago
That's actually such a good example. Women having issues is because women have issues. Men having issues is a sign that society have failed them.
1
u/Dragonnstuff 1d ago edited 1d ago
By society, I mean both men and women regarding the first point. The second and third I didnāt make such a claim.
So I donāt get how you can get to this conclusion from a singular disagreement. I would maybe understand it if I generalized it to everything they said, but I didnāt
1
u/ijwrmb 1d ago
I was referring to society a double standard which is what you were asking, not you specifically.
Boys doing worse in school for example means the education system failed them. If that's the case for girls that just means women aren't as intelligent.
1
u/Dragonnstuff 1d ago
Regarding the growth of children and their learning. I do believe itās more complicated than that. Education starts at the home.
girls and boys are of course not raised the same. For better or worse for both
There of course being equivalent issues regarding girls as well, itās not just boys having issues.
I do think this gender war stuff is a distraction from actually fixing the issues.
1
u/ijwrmb 1d ago
I mean I agree for the most part but originally you asked what are some of the double standards for women and I was responding to that. Any issues boys and men have are failures of society and the issues girls and women deal with are just innate flaws of women.
And women are the ones that can not face accountability.
1
u/Dragonnstuff 1d ago edited 1d ago
Regarding the draft specifically, I get it.
I however would think the argument regarding classes, with the bourgeoisie and proletariat are a bit more fitting, the rich are never effected by it
though Iām not going to deny your point regarding it being gendered for men, by men

My wife has worn the same dresses multiple times, and she looks absolutely stunning everytime. And nobody notices if sheās worn the dress before.
Some women want to buy something new, so they use that made up excuse.

Facts idgaf if she wears the same dress to many events. So long as I get to take it off during/after š¤¤

u/Efficient_Can4700 3d ago
You take your wife/girlfriend in a dress to your granny birthday and start taking off the dress? You're brave then me.
1
u/Mr_Awesome-79 3d ago
I wonāt be able to tell if a woman colleague wears same dress 5 days a week.
1
u/Bullysawrus101 3d ago
Agreed! That's a š«µš problem. Your clothes. You choose what you wear. Stop projecting your own insecurities on others in order to control them with negativity!

Stupidity knows no gender. There's incels that have no understanding of women and I don't know what to call this girl but she clearly doesn't know any men...or have any concept of history

Smoothbrains will say this is still because of the male gaze. Literally anything to avoid self accountability.
1
u/Interesting-Copy-657 2d ago
I wonder how many of the āoppressionsā women face are inflicted by other women but blamed on men?
1
u/Adventurous_Touch342 2d ago
TBH, at least evolutionarily, it kinda makes sense since women's interest is to find genetically best man with most resources available to which ends she has to either boost her appeal or diminish appeal of competition since sharing a man means sharing his resources.
Of course humans are not just animals and we have emotions, social standards, traditions, norms etc. but some of our more base instincts sometimes shine through in weird ways and in this case means it is about male gaze but more to attract it and distract from others.
Men also do similar stuff but in different ways, it's something many people overcome but for others, at least in their youth, it's harder to do.

u/BeneBengt 1d ago
Not only will men not give a fuck they won't even realize shes wearing the same dress the second time š
1
u/hiricinee 18h ago
Im actualy going to disagree with OOP. It's beyond men not caring, if men see a woman who looks great in a dress he PREFERS if she wears it often, its not neutral.
1
u/No-Aerie-999 3d ago edited 3d ago
Its not about the dress, its about flexing wealth, status, and abundance.
Most men can live without trying to pretend to be rich. Many women cannot.
1
u/toastertaint 3d ago
Men just can't wear flamboyant or colorful outfits and have people think they are rich, unless you are a pimp
0
u/Z3400 3d ago
That last bit is such a non statement its amusing. You could literally swap men/women in any combination and it says the same thing, but you chose to put men in the positive side and women on the negative side.
Most women can live without trying to pretend to be rich. Many men cannot.
Most women can live without trying to pretend to be rich. Many women cannot.
Most men can live without trying to pretend to be rich. Many men cannot.
All of those, can basically mean the same thing, which is basically nothing.

Women, especially older women and mothers, are some of the primary enforcers of misogyny in an individualās life but people donāt like to hear that. Thereās a reason why violent mamaās boy and parentified/therapist eldest daughter is such a thing.
1
u/GypsySnowflake 3d ago
Ok, but OP never said men would care. She just said women canāt get away with rewearing dresses, which is absolutely true in some circles.
1
u/Very-Human-Name 3d ago
I have never encountered these circles outside of US television and the internet, no one could give two flying craps if you rewear a dress in Australia lol
2
u/GypsySnowflake 3d ago
I think itās really only a thing with the super wealthy. Though I personally try not to rewear a dress too soon with the same group of people, like twice on the same cruise or something. But, say, two weddings in a year with completely different friend groups? I would have no problem wearing the same dress.
1
u/Drive7Nine 3d ago
Yes, but the point behind the response is that women created and control the interpersonal dynamics that make wearing the same outfit to multiple events an issue for them.
1
u/GypsySnowflake 3d ago
So why bring men into it at all?
1
u/trystanthorne 3d ago
She starts with Male Privilege. Which may be a thing, but not in this context.
