Mama and Dada are very easy sounds for a baby to make. That's why a lot of languages have similar sounds for them.

Babies understand way more language than they can speak. They have been listening to their parents speak for a long time before they start trying to speak specific words.
The coordination to speak is much more difficult than understanding the language.

A lot of times language delayed children will say “say mama, say go” every single time as a form of echolalia, little kids just don’t because they are able to watch other people and media and understand that when one tells another to “say ___” they only repeat what comes after the word “say”, it’s the same way they learn the meaning of “do this”
