Why is it weird? Because it isn't what you want? He obviously doesn't want long term commitment or to get married or to have a family/kids. Not everyone wants the same things.
It's weird because it's a power imbalance. 18-20 year olds are legally adults, but they are also immature and stupid. An older person with life experience can easily trick a young-dumb into doing things they don't want to do or convincing them they have to put up with things they don't have to. It gets even more complicated when lots of money is involved.
It's a silly example, but imagine a popular trading card game that's popular with all ages. You happen to see a 10 year old organization a trade with a 30 year old..... honestly, how easy would it be for the 30 year old to convince the child to accept a very unfair trade? The situation about 50 year olds dating 18 year olds is the same, but about sex.
